John Boyega recently posted a video in which he encourages fan shipping of Finn and Poe from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it isn't the first time the actor has played up Finn-Poe shipping. Finn, portrayed by John Boyega, and Poe, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, have been shipped by Star Wars fans since their very first appearance together during The Force Awakens and throughout The Last Jedi. Many cited the natural chemistry the two characters had and wanted to see more, but fans will have to wait and see what happens when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.

The Rise of Skywalker is set to release right in time for the holiday season. This will be the ninth episode in the Star Wars universe and the final movie in the franchise focused on the Skywalker saga, meaning it may be the last chance for fans to see Finn and Poe on screen at the same time. Finn made his first appearance in The Force Awakens as a First Order Stormtrooper who was tired of all the cruelty, which led to him abandoning his post and joining the Resistance. During his escape he met Poe Dameron, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In an Instagram video posted to Boyega's account, John Boyega can be seen writing a letter to Oscar Isaac, to the backdrop of a voice-over narration he did himself. Boyega misses Isaac, and reminisces about their time together. As he reflects on the adventures of Finn and Poe, he has the realization he and Isaac haven't been "afforded the same caliber of companionship" as their characters. Boyega then recalls a moment during their press tour, when Boyega put his hands on Isaac's shoulders, but his show of friendship was not reciprocated from Isaac. Boyega follows this by stating he hopes for one more chance in a final press tour for them to demonstrate their bond. Boyega then asks Isaac to join him at The Rise of Skywalker premiere as his plus one. The voice-over is performed in a heightened version of how Boyega normally speaks, exaggerated in order to add an old-timey feel. He drops the outdated speaking style at the end, when, as an aside, he mentions he thinks BB-8 is jealous of them. Check out the original video below:

With more than 1.5 million followers, Boyega is no stranger to Instagram. He posts pretty frequently, and at the time of this article's writing the video already has over 87,000 views. Isaac has yet to post an answer to Boyega's proposition, so fans will have to keep an eye out for his response.

Hopefully, there will be more of Boyega in future Star Wars movies as Finn, though the actor did once express he thinks he's done playing the role after The Rise of Skywalker. Finn was one of the very first new characters introduced in the sequel trilogy, and a central figure at that. However, not much is known about Finn's background prior to when the audience was first introduced to the character. There are many theories about Finn, but fans will have to wait until The Rise of Skywalker releases on December 20th to see if any of them prove to be true.
