Daisy Ridley believes Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker gives Rey a satisfying and emotional ending. Debuting in just over two weeks, The Rise of Skywalker will cap off the sequel trilogy as well as the Skywalker Saga as a whole. Fans eagerly anticipate watching how the story will come to a close, though they'll have to say goodbye to some of the franchise's most beloved characters.

Rey, after being introduced in The Force Awakensquickly became an iconic figure, and it's been a thrill to see her journey over the course of two films. Initially a scavenger from Jakku, Rey gradually uncovered her Force abilities and soon was strong enough to take on Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) himself. Now, as The Rise of Skywalker draws ever closer, fans wonder if she'll make a turn to the Dark Side, something that was hinted at in a trailer, or if she will continue to fight for the Resistance.

While speaking to Screen Rant, Ridley was asked about how she feels about the end of Rey's journey. After some fans were disappointed by The Last Jedithere is a fear The Rise of Skywalker won't complete the trilogy in a satisfying way. Ridley, however, thinks fans will respond well to Rey's ending in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. When asked if she is happy with Rey's finale, she said this:

Yes. Fully. I think doing it, even doing the finals scenes I have, be them alone, be them with other people, from a personal experience, I remember feeling really filled up with a really satisfying emotion of like, it just felt really right, and watching it I think, its not like a big showy ending, it’s just a beautiful, emotion thing that I think people will carry with them.

Finn Rey and Poe in Star Wars 9 The Rise of Skywalker

The Rise of Skywalker will also see the departures of Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac). While actors often return to big franchises after leaving them, this really appears to be the end of the line for the trio, with Boyega and Isaac even saying recently they don't wish to return via Disney+ (as the Star Wars franchise is making the leap to the streaming platform). This just means fans will be doubly disappointed if the film doesn't give these characters proper endings.

Considering Rey is the unofficial lead of the sequel trilogy, it's not surprising that she'll (hopefully) be given a beautiful, emotional ending. Ridley's comments instill some confidence Rey will get the ending she deserves. Of course, the presence of Dark Rey in some of the marketing materials suggest Rey's Star Wars journey may not go the way people are expecting, or that it will at least take a detour. It may not be satisfying, though, to see the trilogy's newest hero fall to darkness, so hopefully Rey will be given a brighter finish alongside Finn and Poe. After being alone for most of her life and losing people she cares about, she deserves a peaceful end. With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arriving soon, it won't be long until fans can form their own opinions about Rey's final moments.
