We reveal whether Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has a post-credits scene or any kind of secret tease at the very end of the movie. George Lucas created the Star Wars movie franchise, launching it in 1977 with the first film that has come to be subtitled A New Hope. When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, they promised more episodes in the franchise, building off the six that came before. The sequel trilogy launched in 2015 and is now coming to an end with J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in which Emperor Palpatine returns and becomes the main foe for new trio Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron.

As the concluding chapter not only of the sequel trilogy but of the entire Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker is highly anticipated by Star Wars fans. There are still questions about Rey's parentage and The Rise of Skywalker has promised more of Rey's story will be revealed. Plus, there's the question of how Kylo Ren fits into Palpatine's plans, since last we saw of him, he had become Supreme Leader of the First Order after killing Snoke. The final chapter held its world premiere earlier this week, and the first Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reactions surfaced online. Now as the movie hits theaters, fans will get to see it for themselves.

Those checking out Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters may be wondering whether they need to stick around through the very end of the credits for any scenes or extra teases. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker does NOT have a post-credits scene or any kind of secret tease or Easter egg during the credits. While a film's credits are always worth watching to get an idea of who was involved in the production, Star Wars fans shouldn't expect an end-credits scene in The Rise of Skywalker.

It's not surprising The Rise of Skywalker doesn't have an end-credits scene, since the franchise hasn't included button scenes in the past. Although credits scenes have grown in popularity over the years, thanks in part to Marvel Studios using them to set up next installments of their Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars hasn't gotten in on the trend. Neither Star Wars: The Force Awakens nor Star Wars: The Last Jedi included post-credits scenes. However, The Last Jedi did have a Carrie Fisher dedication, since it was the first Star Wars movie to release following the Leia actress' death in 2016.

Since The Rise of Skywalker is the end of the Skywalker saga it makes sense Abrams would want the movie to feel like a conclusion, rather than include a post-credits scene that would set up another chapter. Even Marvel's Avengers: Endgame didn't have any credits scenes, giving it a sense of finality as it concluded the Infinity Saga. While after-credits scenes don't necessarily need to set up future movies, and can instead offer an extra joke or fun moment for fans, it may have detracted from the final scene of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Instead, Abrams wraps up the movie before the credits start to roll, so fans should know that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker doesn't have any credits scenes.
