It may be surprising, but the plot for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith was revealed early in the ROTS and LEGO Star Wars video games. Audiences could experience the story weeks, or even months before the movie was released in theaters. While common for games to come out before a major motion picture, hardly ever does the product spoil the main plot. The original LEGO Star Wars follows key parts of the movie, while the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith video game allows fans to play through the entire storyline.

Episode III was released on May 19, 2005, and portrayed Anakin Skywalker's turn to the Dark Side of the Force. Even before seeing the film, most fans knew the end result because they had seen the original Star Wars trilogy. 2005's LEGO Star Wars, much like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, is a collection of multiple stories in the series. These games are light-hearted and allow fans to experience the main narrative of the movies, without all of the extra details. Even with this more simplistic version of ROTS, major parts of the plot were still depicted, such as Anakin betraying the Jedi Order. Then, just two weeks before the movie's release, another game came out that spoiled all of it.

Players of the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith video game could control either Anakin or Obi-Wan. The plot followed the storyline very closely and, at times, featured actual clips from the movie between major fights. Fans could watch important scenes, such as Anakin killing Count Dooku in front of Palpatine, from the comfort of their own homes. Each major plot point from the film was spoiled for players. The Star Wars: ROTS game did get rather dark, especially with the alternate ending.

The climax of the movie revolves around the iconic fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan, known as the Duel on Mustafar. At this moment, the game divulges into two separate endings. Depending upon which character the player is controlling, they will view a different final scene. As Obi-Wan, fans will see results very similar to how they play out in the movie. However, players controlling Anakin will end up killing the Jedi Master and meeting with Palpatine afterward. Upon receiving a red lightsaber, Anakin ends up surprising the Sith Lord, killing him and claiming, "No...the galaxy belongs to me." With those chilling final words, the game ends, leaving unanswered questions about an alternate timeline in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is an important movie in the series because it explains how Anakin turned to the Dark Side of the Force and became Darth Vader. Somehow, two games were allowed to be released before the actual film, spoiling the plot for players. Fans, fortunately, do not have to worry about this problem anymore, as new Star Wars games tend to only be available for purchase after the movies are in theaters.
