Memes have changed the way audiences remember a film. The common jokes, criticisms, and variations within memes have a significant influence on the collective memory behind a film. This is certainly true of Revenge of the Sith, which like all the Star Wars prequels, has served as the basis for countless memes.

When considering the best quotes from Revenge of the Sith, the lines most commonly found in memes are among the first that come to mind. While some of these quotes are among the best--along with some other underrated examples--they also deserve recognition for their contribution to the film's character development, themes, and far-reaching impacts on the Star Wars franchise.

"This Is Where The Fun Begins."

This quote is a bit on the nose, but it's a perfect introduction for Revenge of the Sith. Anakin and Obi-Wan's chemistry is at its best in Revenge of the Sith, part of which is the banter they share as they fly through the Battle of Coruscant.

Diving straight into the madness of the Battle of Coruscant--and seeing it through the lens the Anakin-Obi-Wan relationship--easily makes this the strongest and most fun opening of the prequels.

"Not To Worry. We Are Still Flying Half A Ship."

Obi-Wan's sarcasm and sass is on another level in Revenge of the Sith. As Anakin tries to pilot General Grievous's ship the Invisible Hand onto the surface of Coruscant, the back half of the ship snaps off.

Even with their lives and the life of Chancellor Palpatine on the line, Obi-Wan can't miss an opportunity to make light of the situation, his words dripping with sarcasm. This sense of humor is part of what kept Obi-Wan sane through crazy situations like this.

"You Are On This Council, But We Do Not Grant You The Rank Of Master."

It's no secret that Mace Windu was never a fan of Anakin Skywalker. This quote leads to the ultimate slap in the face as Mace gives Anakin the seat on the Jedi Council that he always craved and then emphasizes that it's a meaningless honor.

Anakin is only being given a seat because of Chancellor Palpatine's request. He's still not a Jedi Master and Mace makes it clear in front of the entire Jedi Council that he believes Anakin is an unworthy individual.

"There's Good In Him. I Know. I Know There's...Still—"

Padme names her twins Luke and Leia

Padmé's last words aren't quoted or referenced in memes as frequently as most of the other examples on this list, but her words are still powerful and worthy of recognition. Despite everything Anakin did to her, to the Jedi, and to the rest of the galaxy, Padmé still believes there's good in him.

She is the first one to believe that it's not too late for Anakin to find redemption. Even though she passes away in this scene, her belief lives on and eventually manifests in her son, who successfully brings his father back to the light.

"Have You Ever Heard The Tragedy Of Darth Plagueis The Wise?"

The tragedy of Darth Plagueis is a fascinating tale that enriches the Star Wars universe. It answers a great deal about the history of Palpatine and the Sith, while also raising questions and sparking theories that fans still debate today.

Palpatine's opening question sparks curiosity and teems with possibility. In addition to his many other strengths, Palpatine is a masterful storyteller who knows how to capture Anakin's attention and make him invested in the possibilities of the dark side. At the same time, Palpatine withholds critical information that will keep Anakin eager to learn more and do whatever it takes to receive the knowledge he seeks.

"I Am The Senate."

Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin has a line in A New Hope where he refers to the disbandment of the Imperial Senate. While it is officially dissolved then, the truth is that the Senate has been a farce for years. Palpatine is the real power and the senators are powerless to do anything within the rigged system he created.

Palpatine manipulated the cogs of the democratic machine in order to infiltrate the system and destroy it from within. By the time the Jedi realize what's happening in Revenge of the Sith, it's already too late. Palpatine owns the Senate and will continue to control it until it is officially disbanded.

"Hello There."

These two innocuous words have taken on a life of their own in the Star Wars fandom. It is hilarious for Obi-Wan to jump down, be surrounded by General Grievous and a massive droid army, and then respond with a cheerful, upbeat greeting.

This moment is also a delightful connection to Obi-Wan's introduction in A New Hope. When Obi-Wan approaches an unconscious Luke Skywalker and then notices R2-D2, Obi-Wan's first words are a cheerful, "Hello there."

"It's Over, Anakin. I Have The High Ground."

Anakin and Obi-Wan engage in a lengthy and epic duel on Mustafar, but it's this moment that fans remember the most. Obi-Wan's line about the high ground has launched countless memes and become a joke. It's a critical, emotional moment, but the sudden emphasis on the high ground seems to come out of nowhere.

Yet, it's also memorable because it's one of the most game-changing moments in the entire Skywalker saga. It's the moment where Anakin must confront the reality that power can't fix everything. He pushes too far and pays a devastating price as a result. It's also the moment where Obi-Wan is forced to make the choice he never wanted to make, a choice that will forever change his life, Anakin's life, and the fate of the entire galaxy.

"So This Is How Liberty Dies. With Thunderous Applause."

The prequels tell a frightening and relevant story of a democracy being destroyed from within. Part of what makes this so frightening is that on numerous occasions, the characters are seen happily making choices that will lead to their eventual destruction.

Padmé is rightfully terrified and disappointed when she realizes she is living through the exact moment where democracy dies. Palpatine has abolished the Galactic Republic and replaced it with a dictatorship, and yet, her fellow senators cheer, still blind to their self-destructive choices.

"Execute Order 66."

Palpatine tells Commander Cody to execute Order 66 in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

This simple line immediately fills Star Wars fans with a sense of dread. Palpatine's command carries with it the horrors of ruthless betrayal and devastation that follow.

When these words are heard again in other Star Wars stories like The Clone Wars and Jedi: Fallen Order, they carry just as much power, if not more, as when they were first uttered in Revenge of the Sith.
