There is no shortage of weapons in the Star Wars franchise and they all require some expertise to use. Recently, in The Book Of Bobba Fett, fans got to feel a little bit sorry for Din Djarin as he struggled with the Darksaber that he took from Moff Gideon. That's all due to the fact that the Darksaber gets heavier with each swing.

While the Darksaber is awesome, there are many that ought to be considered when it comes to a discussion about the best-ever weapons in the Star Wars movies, TV shows, books, and video games. So which have been the most impressive ones in terms of functionality, design, and general coolness? Redditors have had their picks.

DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol

Han Solo fires at stormtroopers using his blaster pistol in Star Wars

The blaster pistol is mostly featured during the Galactic Civil War. TheGlobglogabgolab describes it as "such an amazing weapon" and that "Star Wars wouldn't be the same without it."

The DL-44 beats many other weapons in terms of efficacy as it's easily able to penetrate stormtrooper armor. Part of its legacy also lies in the fact that it's the weapon of choice of one of the best Star Wars characters, Han Solo. And since it's a sidearm, it's much easier to carry too. A user can't be caught unprepared either since it has a vibration system that alerts the user when there are only 5 shots remaining.

The Lasan AB-75 Bo Rifle

Redditor thachickenfrycaptain names the AB-75 as their favorite weapon, saying, "The sound it makes when fired is so satisfying." In the franchise, the AB-75s are specifically used by the Lasan High Honor Guard.

The AB-75 stands out because it's more of a 2-in-1 weapon. Its ability to change from a blaster rifle to ab electro-staff in about 1.36 seconds is remarkable. There is value for money in it too since its usefulness doesn't end when the war comes to a conclusion. The Lasat rebel, Zeb, is once seen using it to conduct an ancient ritual.

Long-Handle Lightsaber

Darth Chratis wielding his long-handled lightsaber in Star Wars

Darth Chratis is the first-ever character to use a long-handle lightsaber. Other characters such as Dark Jedi Warb Null and Sith Lord Darth Nihl also get to own one. About the weapons, ThoughtLock says "They allow you to get a stronger hold on the handle and you can lever it around your body easily."

Since its owners often need to adopt a martial arts style of fighting, the use of the long-handle lightsaber has led to some very interesting duels. Body joints serve as great fulcrums to the weapons, hence resulting in incredible rotational moves. And owners don't have to worry about losing it because it has a long surface area for gripping purposes.

Mandalorian Ripper

The Mandalorian Ripper first goes into production during The Great Sith War and is later issued to Mandalorian officers. Darth_Zharlner reminds everyone that "it can bypass lightsabers and can be dual-wielded."

Proof of the weapon's destructiveness lies in the fact that it's banned in most Republic societies. And owners aren't limited to one model either. It comes in various variants, including the ripper version, which can blast through energy shields. It's the perfect weapon for fans of modifications too as its power cell, firing chamber, and targeting scope can be upgraded.

Dual-Phase Lightsaber

Obi Wan fights Vader in Star Wars A New Hope

The dual-phase is popularized by one of the most powerful Star Wars villains, Darth Vader, though a couple of heroes get to test it too. Dray_Gunn says "being able to extend it to twice or three times its usual length in an instant and then back again could be an extremely efficient way to take out multiple foes quickly."

There is no doubt that Vader wouldn't be the great fighter that he is without it. The dual-phase is the best for catching opponents by surprise. Thanks to its kyber crystals, the blade length can be shortened or extended in the middle of a fight. With it also being a Vader weapon, this further cements its iconic status.

Thermal Detonator

Bane holds a Thermal Detonator in Star Wars

The grenade-like device is illegal in most areas of the galaxy and is only possessed by a few aliens, including the bounty hunter, Cad Bane, from Planet Duros. In the right context, Redditor izikavazo is full of praises, writing, "Thermal detonators [...would] be pretty incredible if they were real."

Anyone using a thermal detonator can avoid is spared the need to use firearms or engage in physical combat because the explosive can take out up to 100 living beings at a time. They are safer too because they cant detonate before being activated first. Because of this particular weapon, Bane has come out on top during battles with some of the most talented Jedi.

BlasTech E-11

The stormtroopers generally have to do a lot of law-enforcement work and the BlastTech E-11 has proven to be reliable in a galaxy full of rebels, outlaws, and bounty hunters. The troopers never have to worry about overheating since the weapon has internal coolers. Furthermore, there are different power settings depending on whether the target needs to be killed or neutralized. These include sting, stun, and lethal.

Count Dooku's Curved Lightsaber

Count Dooku prepares to fight Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

Coreyndtrevor confesses, "I always liked Count Dooku's blade. [It's] so elegant just like the man who wielded it." The curved-hilt lightsaber is owned by Dooku, one of the few Star Wars characters that also got to star in a novel. He uses it from his time as the Count of Serenno to his time as the leader of the Separatist Alliance.

Very few weapons are custom made to match the user's fighting style so, the curved lightsaber stands out in that regard. Unlike the Darksaber, it isn't heavy or complicated either. Dooku is able to wield it using only one hand.  Additionally, the weapon has a stamp of approval from Dooku actor Christopher Lee, who is a swordsman in real life.

The Centerpoint

The Death Star is a lot more popular thanks to its super-laser but Redditors have a different pick for the most effective superweapon. Halgy notes that The Centerpoint "can destroy a star from halfway across the galaxy."

Destroying planets isn't the only thing that The Centerpoint can do.  Its tractor beams enable it to literally move planets from their orbits. Moreover, Its complexity is beyond some of the best minds in the galaxy. It has been stated that scholars have been studying it for years but haven't quite figured it out. And with its length of 350 km, the first Death Star doesn't hold a candle to it when it comes to size.

Disruptor Rifles

An image of a disruptor rifles from the Star Wars video games

With Ash-Frakkin-Vegas shock at how "they strip flesh and melt armor," it's not surprising that the Disruptor Cannons are banned in the galaxy as they could cause a lot of destruction.

In a galaxy that has so much battle, a weapon that can do various kinds of things ought to be the more preferred one. As the Redditor puts it, disruptor rifles can disintegrate a biological target into mere atoms so it would certainly cause the opponent to cower. Furthermore, Sabine Wren once mentions to Garazeb Orrelios that you can short circuit an entire starship using a disruptor cannon. With such impressive features, one can't ask for more.
