The poster for Star Wars Rebels season 4 teases the final battle between the Ghost's crew and Grand Admiral Thrawn's forces. When Rebels took the place vacated by The Clone Wars, no one was quite sure how the new series would connect to the larger Star Wars universe. Since that time, however, the three seasons of the show have featured dozens of cameos from across the galaxy and have brought back many favorites from The Clones Wars. Nods to Rebels and its characters were even featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year, and Rebels is now set to return the favor.

Among other things, the trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 4 confirms that Saw Gerrera (last seen in live-action form in Rogue One) is returning on the animated series this season. Even more exciting, the X-Wings are finally making their debut on Rebels. Since this is going to be the final season of Rebels, the show could wind up paving the way for both Rogue One and a new Star Wars TV show in the episodes ahead. Before that happens, however, the heroes of Ghost Squadron still have one last battle to fight.

The official poster for Star Wars Rebels season 4 (released by Disney XD - see below) teases the converging of paths that will heavily play into the new season. Alongside the battle-worn Rebel cell, we can see the forces of the Alliance battling the Empire here. Looming large over the heads of our heroes are the two main threats in the season ahead, along with something that may or may not pose a danger to the Rebels.

First off, it's hard not to get excited seeing the X-Wings battling TIE fighters in the background of this poster. As the story of Rebels inches towards the events of Rogue One and Episode IV - A New Hope, it's likely that the upcoming season will feature plenty of references to the moments ahead.

Thrawn and Governor Pryce's presence above the action is also telling, as both foes will continue to serve as the chief antagonists for Kanan, Hera, and the other Rebels. The placement of the wolf that was seen in the trailer is also interesting. While it doesn't appear to be a threat in the footage we've seen, the creature is an unknown entity. Rebels has been great at bringing in non-traditional beings that have connections to the Force, and this wolf is likely to play a key role in the evolution of Kanan and Ezra as Jedi.

Thanks to the reveal of the first episode titles for Rebels season 4, we know the season will kick off with the Ghost's crew joining forces with Sabine's Mandalorian clan. In doing so, Katee Sackoff's Bo-Katan will be returning, after having been last seen fighting alongside Death Watch on The Clone Wars. With the future of Star Wars on TV unknown, we will likely see a lot of familiar faces back for Rebels' final outing on the small screen.
