Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni hints at Ahsoka Tano's return for season 4 and reveals Rex's new outfit. Rebels may have just wrapped its third season, but fans are already eager to see what's in store for the fourth season of the series. There's a number of  Rebels characters and stories we want to see get the spotlight, and given how much freedom the show has had so far, we expect much of it to happen. The upcoming season has a lot to live up to, however, thanks to season 3's excellent run of episodes and work expanding the Star Wars canon. We saw the tragic story of Darth Maul, met the ancient and powerful Bendu, and Grand Admiral Thrawn finally crossed from the Expanded Universe to the new canon. He may even show up in The Last Jedi, if we're lucky.

While we wait for news on the next season, Star Wars Celebration Orlando is in full swing. It's given us some terrific looks back, but it's also providing some teases for the future. Earlier today, we got to see some early concept art for Jedi Ahsoka Tano and bounty Hunter Cad Bane. Part of a panel on animation hosted by Dave Filoni and Pablo Hidalgo, it reminded fans of just how much they love the characters that were introduced on Clone Wars. And while Cad Bane hasn't returned to TV, Ahsoka has had her own arc on Rebels. Sadly, the last time we saw her, she was facing Darth Vader and seemingly perished. Luckily, she's not gone for good.

While we don't have any specifics, IGN is reporting that Filoni made it clear during the panel that he's rethought his decision to leave Ahsoka behind. Given the fan support of the character, there's a good chance we'll see her again in a new storyline this next season. And as season 4 of Rebels is going to further set up Rogue One and the original trilogy, many fans are hoping to see Ahsoka join the live-action world as well.

Filoni and Hidalgo also spoke about Clone Trooper Rex, who will be back with a new outfit next season. Reminiscent of the Battle of Endor gear worn in Return on the Jedi, it might hint towards the idea that Rex has a long life ahead of him as well. Check it out below thanks to Syfy Wire:

Filoni went on to discuss Rex's compatriots Gregor and Wolffe. They appeared a few seasons back on Rebels when we first met the older Rex, but we haven't seen them in some time. Now that Rebels has firmly established its identity and is comfortable referencing the movies, here's hoping that the creatives behind the series will be more open to bringing other characters from Clone Wars back into the fold. With SWCO continuing all weekend, we'll likely have more news to bring you, so stay tuned.
