Star Wars is one of the greatest film series ever, filled with memorable characters and a vast quantity of meme-worthy scenes. However, it is worth noting that the prequels were kind of a weak spot, and because of that, the franchise does occasionally fall victim to the errant plot hole or consistency error.

Here are 10 memes that will have you questioning the Star Wars prequel franchise's logic.

Remember

This is one of the biggest continuity errors in Star Wars history. In Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Leia recalls young memories of her mother Padmé in an emotional, heartbreaking scene, but in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Padmé is shown to have died right after giving birth to Luke and Leia.

Sure, there are a few possible explanations for how this could have worked out, but you have to admit none of them are very satisfactory.

Yoda

Another annoying continuity error between the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy is that in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Luke travels to the Dagobah System to find Yoda, because Yoda was Obi-Wan's master. However, in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan's master is Qui-Gon Jinn; Obi-Wan and Yoda don't even seem to have that strong of a connection.

There was really no reason for George Lucas to change this, but thankfully this meme helps us see the humorous side of things.

I Don't Like Sand

Come on, Star Wars, keep your continuity in check! This meme rightly points out that in the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Anakin is shown to be much more capable of flirting than he is in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.

In one instance, he's charismatic and confident, and in the other, he goes off on a tangent about his dislike for sand. It could be that he's just nervous around Padmé, considering his great love for her, but come on.

The High Ground

In Episode I, Obi-Wan Kenobi avenges his fallen master by slaying Darth Maul. In Episode III, during the Duel of Mustafar between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan tells his former apprentice "I have the high ground!"

But is the high ground really that important, considering Obi-Wan sliced Darth Maul from below? Many have argued that Obi-Wan having the "high ground" against Anakin was really just a psychological trick with no actual significance, but there's never been an in-universe answer given.

Sith Lord Palpatine

This does seem like an error at first; after all, it's shown that Jedi and Sith are capable of detecting each other, and there's no reason why the Masters shouldn't have been able to sniff out Palpatine.

While this is a clever meme, however, this is one of very few instances where Star Wars actually wins in the end - because Force Stealth, or the ability to conceal your Force alignment, has been canon since it was introduced in the novelization of Episode V.

Anakin and C-3PO

One of the main reasons for all the hate the prequels tend to get is because of all the inconsistencies they have with the original trilogy. Case in point - Episode I shows C-3PO's creator as Anakin, as a way of showing off the young Force-user's technical prodigy; however, in the original series, C-3PO doesn't seem to remember his creator. In fact, many of the people who encounter C-3PO in the prequels don't remember the droid in the original trilogy.

Granted, there are many explanations for this, and at least there's one instance where Vader remembers C-3PO; in the 2000 non-canon comic Thank the Maker.

Survivor

This is another bizarre bit of prequel logic that's never fully explained. Darth Maul and Darth Vader both survive cataclysmic events, with the latter being rebuilt by droids, but Padmé just dies upon losing Anakin? That doesn't seem romantic, that just makes it seem like Anakin was her only reason to live, which wasn't true at all. And the Medical Droids should surely have a better explanation than just saying that she's dying for "reasons [they] can't explain."

Obviously, Padmé's death is important for the story's progression, but surely the writers could come up with a way to pull it off that wasn't so forced.

Skywalker

So, Yoda decides that the twins should be separated so the Sith won't find them, but there's a major problem with placing Luke on Tatooine with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru; with Anakin being a Sith Lord and all, wouldn't the name "Skywalker" be pretty well known?

If you're so certain that they're your "last hope" that you're going to take the precaution of splitting them up, why not take additional steps to keep them from being found or recognized?

Princess Vs. Farmer

This meme is somewhat inaccurate - Padmé died briefly after having her twins, meaning she never specifically requested either one to have a specific role. However, there is a gleam of truth here in that it's kind of odd that one child is adopted by the Queen of Alderaan - which isn't the best hiding place - and the other is sent back to his family.

Sure, it allows the movies to happen, but it's decided so quickly that the conference just kind of discards other, possibly better, options.

Dealing In Absolutes

There's not a lot of complicated backstory or lore behind this one, just a simple statement that doesn't seem to make much sense. Anakin tells Obi-Wan that "if you're not with me, you're my enemy," and Obi-Wan responds that "only a Sith Lord deals in absolutes" - ignoring that his very statement is, in fact, an absolute. Logically, that would mean that either he's lying, or - plot twist! - he's a Sith Lord.

Obviously it's just a slip on the writers' part, but it's funny that little logic errors like that can sometimes slip in. Thankfully, those petty details don't change any of the things that make us love the Star Wars movies.
