Romance is a huge part of Star Wars, creating iconic pairings, beautiful moments, and aiding in tragic stories. Despite the overall better quality of Han and Leia's relationship, Anakin and Padmé's "Across The Stars," love is more important to the franchise. However, that is not all there is to Amidala, a great character.

Thanks to The Clone Wars and extended universe, Padmé's legacy has improved drastically, and she is truly a fan favorite female of the franchise—and rightfully so. However, despite how much there is out there about her, some things about the heroine do not make total sense or raise questions yet gone unanswered.

Falling In Love With Anakin

Star Wars Attack Of The Clones Padmé Amidala Anakin Skywalker Wedding

Anakin Skywalker is a great character, but, in the prequel trilogy, he and Padmé, especially in Attack Of The Cloneshave such little chemistry together.

Couple this with the circumstances of their meeting, and the amount of time they spend both together and apart, and it does not make much sense that she fell in love with the Jedi. But, on the other hand, love is love, and it is uncontrollable.

Not Seeing Anakin For A Decade

Anakin Obi-Wan Kenobi Padme Reunion

Between their first meeting on Tatooine in The Phantom Menace to their reunion on Coruscant in Attack Of The Clones, ten years have passed.

This timeline creates two strange points. How did the two not see each other before that point in Attack Of The Clones? It was not Padmé's first day as Senator, and she was on Coruscant a decent amount around the same place as Anakin. Also, the fact Anakin somehow harbored feelings for Padmé this entire time, as well as her thinking about Anakin during this time, is especially odd.

Hiding Her Pregnancy

For obvious reasons, Anakin and Padmé did a lot of sneaking around to protect themselves, their careers, and their relationship. However, near the end of their relationship, Padmé had a lot more to hide.

Padmé getting pregnant with Luke and Leia was a blessing for the Galaxy, but it also creates a strange issue in that nobody noticed she was pregnant. She was deep into her pregnancy during Revenge Of The Sith and is visibly pregnant during season seven of The Clone Wars. Padmé could have dressed strategically, but, even still, it is quite the miracle she managed to hide the pregnancy.

Not Getting Caught

Anakin and Padmé enjoy quiet alone time during a short time-off from the war in the Clone Wars

As mentioned earlier, Padmé and Anakin did a lot of sneaking about, and it paid off for them for the most part as they never got found out, with only a small handful of exceptions.

But, between the various Senators and Jedi in and around the pair on Coruscant, Anakin having to sneak to a different place to be with Padmé at night, and people having suspicions they never acted on, it seems quite unbelievable they did not get caught by more people. They were careless at points, even getting caught kissing by Padmé's handmaidens.

Why Threepio Went With Her And Anakin To Geonosis

C-3PO and R2-D2 in Attack of the Clones.

Padmé and Anakin was not the only reunion that took place in Attack Of The Clones, and this is not about Shmi and Anakin, but rather C-3PO and his creator.

After their reunion at the Lars homestead, Threepio goes with Padmé and Anakin to Geonosis but is the property of Cliegg, Owen, and Beru, and clearly useful. This gets explained in the movie's novelization, as Threepio simply getting given back to Anakin, which makes complete headcanon sense, but technically is not canon.

How Threepio Came Into Her Possession

Sticking with Threepio and Padmé, following the events of the Battle of Geonosis and Attack Of The Clones, Padmé has Threepio, with Artoo sticking with Anakin. But, how did Threepio come into Padmé's ownership if he is Anakin's droid?

Of course, with the war, Anakin did not have much use for Threepio on the regular if he was needed he got called for, so it makes sense he is not with Anakin. Like Threepio going with them to Geonosis, this receives an explanation in the Attack Of The Clones novel as Anakin giving him as a gift to Padmé. But, again, this is not officially canon, just sensical headcanon.

Rex's Knowledge Of Her And Anakin's Relationship

Obi-wan taunts Anakin about Padmé in The clone Wars' final season

As mentioned earlier, nobody found out about Anakin and Padmé's relationship except for Obi-Wan, but Captain Rex was in on their secret, as seen in season seven of The Clone Wars.

So, when did he find out? Did Anakin go out of his way to tell his loyal friend? Did he and Padmé make the decision together? Does Padmé even know Rex is aware of the pair? None of this is massively apparent and is vital to the characters involved.

Did She Tell Anybody Deliberately?

One peculiar plot point stems from the fact that Padmé is not incredibly close to Rex in the same way Ahsoka and Anakin are and has her own group of people in her life she trusts and respects.

As mentioned earlier, a few people knew about them, Obi-Wan, Rex, the droids, Ahsoka, likely Palpatine, and Padmé's handmaidens. But, did she ever go out of her way to confide in anyone, such as Bail Organa perhaps, or Captain Typho, rather than getting found out?

Never Getting Mentioned In The Other Trilogies

This is a problematic product of the original trilogy coming long before the prequels. Still, Padmé never gets any mention in the other films except for Leia, saying she remembers her birth mother.

As the love of Darth Vader/Anakin and one of the primary reasons for his downfall, it would make sense if she would get referenced. As for the sequels, the prequels got shunned on more than one occasion, so Padmé was not completely necessary in terms of getting a mention, but it would have been nice and made a lot of sense, especially with Leia herself being a mother at that point.

Her Death

Padmé Amidala's funerlal on Coruscant in Revenge of the Sith

For fifteen years now, Padmé Amidala's death has been a point of contention in the Star Wars fandom, as having of a broken heart and losing the will to live is definitely a more out there way to die.

From a narrative standpoint, fans accept and like this death, but it is the technicalities of the death with which fans are not on board. There is no actual reason for her death outside of sadness; she just died, and it irks many fans to this day.
