Warning! Spoilers ahead for The Book of Boba Fett episode 2

Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't have been more wrong about Tusken Raiders and their accuracy in the Star Wars galaxy when compared to Imperial stormtroopers. While a classic Kenobi line from the first Star Wars film has long been met with criticism, The Book of Boba Fett shines a light on just how strange Obi-Wan's high regard for stormtrooper precision truly was. Not only was his perspective strange because stormtrooper accuracy is largely non-existent as the Skywalker Saga unfolds, but also because he considered the Sand People to be worse shots than Imperial soldiers, something the Tusken Raiders have just proven to be absolutely false.

In A New Hope, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi come across the Jawa Sandcrawler that recovered R2-D2 and C-3PO after their escape pod landed on the surface of Tatooine. Discovering that the Jawas had all been shot and killed, Obi-Wan revealed to Luke that the Tusken Raiders were not the ones responsible despite the scene being made to look as such. Not only were the tracks side by side while Sand People ride single file, but Kenobi also reveals that the blaster marks are apparently "too accurate for Sand People" and that "only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise." However, because stormtroopers hardly hit anything as the films progress, this line has been met with quite a bit of humorous criticism seeing as how the soldiers of the Empire are anything but precise.

However, The Book of Boba Fett episode 2 takes it further during its train heist, showing just how offensive Obi-Wan's perspective is with his suggestion that the Sand People were less accurate than stormtroopers in the first Star Wars film. While Boba Fett and several Tusken Raiders climbed aboard the spice runner's train using speeders, Fett also had a handful of Tuskens waiting further down the route with rifles to pick off the train's gunners. While the Raiders were quite a distance away, none of the shots shown missed as they nailed their targets with a deadly and impressive precision that would no doubt make any stormtrooper jealous.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's comments about stormtroopers are so wrong that even series such as Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian have scenes that overtly make fun of how bad stormtroopers are when it comes to aiming. In an episode of Rebels, Captain Rex was disguised as a stormtrooper on a mission before he threw off his helmet in disgust, complaining that he couldn't see anything out of it while shooting at actual stormtroopers. Likewise, The Mandalorian featured two scout troopers in a humorous scene where neither was able to hit a piece of debris only a few feet away. Now, The Book of Boba Fett has its own scene, proving that Tusken Raiders are way more precise than stormtroopers could ever hope to be.

While it's likely that the original line from Obi-Wan Kenobi was meant to provide context to the oppression of the Empire and the deadly efficiency of its soldiers who enforced its will, the line was never earned in the original trilogy of Star Wars films and beyond (at least on-screen). Now, The Book of Boba Fett has proven Kenobi's beliefs about Tusken Raiders' aim to be as inaccurate as a stormtrooper's. As a result, Obi-Wan Kenobi's strangest line is even more wrong than it already was.
