Star Wars set photos have fans speculating the Lars family homestead will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ewan McGregor is finally set to reprise his iconic Star Wars character after years of rumors and clamoring from fans. Lucasfilm may be gearing up for filming the series directed by Deborah Chow who first tried her hand in tackling a project from the space opera when she helmed two episodes of The Mandalorian in its first season as sets are being built.

Announced at 2019's D23 Expo, filming has been delayed a couple of times as they pushed back its release. Plot details are still being firmly kept under wraps, but it was announced during Disney Investor Day in December 2020 that Hayden Christensen is returning as Darth Vader, confirming long-time theories that the upcoming Disney+ show will feature a rematch between the Jedi Master and his former apprentice/friend. It was also revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith which means that Luke Skywalker is also of the same age.

With production supposedly beginning around this time for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, a new image from its set teases the potential return of the Lars Homestead in Tatooine. As pointed out by Noah Outlaw on Twitter, an image of a new construction building is reminiscent of the dome-shaped dwelling Luke lived in during his early years as a moisture farmer on the planet. Back in March 2021, Lucasfilm finally confirmed the extended cast list for Obi-Wan Kenobi with Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. While the studio didn't reveal the characters each actor plays, it's safe to say that Edgerton and Piesse will be reprising their Star Wars prequel roles as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru Lars. The potential return of the Lars homestead makes sense, as it could see Obi-Wan secretly communicating with Luke's guardians in case there's any possible threat for the Skywalker boy lurking in the shadows.

Not much has been known about what Obi-Wan did during his years hiding in Tatooine following the rise of Emperor Palpatine and the turn of Anakin. It's a part of the Jedi Master's history that Lucasfilm hasn't explored much which works better for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series as it has the creative wiggle room to establish the show's story. Aside from the titular character himself, the project will offer new details about what the Skywalkers as well, particularly what Darth Vader and Luke were doing during this period. If the studio plays it right, the show can fill in narrative gaps that can make the Skywalker saga's overall story better.
