Mark Hamill compares recent U.S presidents to the Star Wars original trilogy movie titles. Hamill is best known for his iconic portrayal of Luke Skywalker, the naive farm-boy from Tatooine who grows up to be a legendary Jedi hero. Luke and Hamill rose to prominence in the original Star Wars trilogy, first appearing in Star Wars (later amended to include the tagline A New Hope) and beginning the journey of a lifetime.

Luke blows up the first Death Star in A New Hope, trained with Yoda to master the art of the Jedi in The Empire Strikes Back, and was responsible for redeeming the most feared Sith Lord in the galaxy in Return of the Jedi. In many ways, Luke is the heart of the original trilogy. He did not have the mantle of hero handed to him. Luke had to struggle and fight for what was right. Rather than run away from the darkness in his soul, Luke accepted it and chose not to let it consume him, throwing down his lightsaber and refusing to kill his father, Darth Vader. Although there have been prequels and sequels, the original Star Wars trilogy and Mark Hamill himself remain one of the most beloved parts of the franchise to this day to fans worldwide.

Mark Hamill is also known for his witty and snarky social media posts, and the one he shared this past Saturday was no exception. He shared a meme that compared the last two U.S presidents and the incoming U.S president to the original Star Wars trilogy movie titles. Hamill's post was in response to the news Joe Biden has won the 2020 U.S presidential election. Check out Hamill's hilarious post below via his Twitter page, below.

Hamill's post is of course all in good fun. The meme he shared has been widely used on the internet for years, with fans swapping in different political candidates to match the movie titles. It's also definitely a testament to the staying power of the original trilogy due to the fact that many people were also comparing the celebrations of Biden's victory to the end of Return of the Jedi.

Hamill has demonstrated that he's just as much of a hero online as he was as Luke onscreen. Not only does he interact with fans on social media with fun Q&A's, Hamill also frequently pokes fun at himself (like joking that he didn't know who Ahsoka was). Hamill has also endorsed Star Wars fan works on his social media pages, like a female Luke Skywalker fan art and another fan take on Star Wars movie title changes.

If there's one thing America could agree on, it's that Star Wars produced a national treasure in the form of Mark Hamill himself. Luke Skywalker is without a doubt a character that will never be forgotten. If there's one lesson to take away from Luke and Mark Hamill, it's to never give up hope and to always remember that a little bit of humor goes a long way.
