Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) is the most powerful Jedi in Star Wars history, John Boyega says. Playing Finn in the ongoing trilogy saga, the Stormtrooper-turned-Resistance-member is set to make his third appearance in J.J. Abrams Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker next month. Plot details around the film are being kept under wraps, but it's tipped to be the final chapter of Skywalker saga. And in light of that, conversations surrounding the movie tend to include not only current key players in the franchise, but also those who have come before them.

Considering this whole episodic journey began with Anakin and his involvement with the Jedi Order, many are looking back in retrospect of how he fares with his contemporaries purely with regard to skills and abilities as a Jedi. Surprisingly, despite witnessing what Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is able to do in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, not to mention his personal ties to Rey (Daisy Ridley), Boyega believes that Anakin Skywalker could've easily defeated both of them as well as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

In reply to a story published by CBR claiming Rey is a better Jedi than Anakin or Luke citing a freshly released Rise of Skywalker prequel story, Boyega took to his official Twitter account to make his thoughts known. In his social media post, he says that Anakin would've easily taken down his contemporary Jedis. Most of the fans in the comments pretty much agreed with his sentiments. Check out his tweet below:

To be fair, fans weren't really able to see Anakin reach his full potential as a Jedi Master, unlike Luke and Rey, whose journeys as such have been extensively tackled throughout Star Wars. However, even in his early days of training, he stood out from his peers. The problem with him was that he was too emotional, especially when it came to the well-being of Padme (Natalie Portman) and their kids, which was understandable. It didn't help that Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) was secretly corrupting his mind unbeknownst to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and the other Jedi Masters. All that being said, if Jedi metrics are the same as the Sith's, Boyega might actually have a point here. In any case, fans won't really know unless they all get together or Lucasfilm decides what's officially in their canon.

With The Rise of Skywalker wrapping up the space opera's main saga, theories about the return of Anakin populate the internet. There's no strong indication that this will be the case, and trailers for Episode IX aren't even teasing this possibility. However, with the film wrapping up the long-running narrative focused on the Skywalker family, it only makes sense that Lucasfilm bring back the character who essentially started it all. Interestingly, Christensen's appearance at this year's Star Wars Celebration, and his visit to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge are fueling these rumors.
