The Star Wars universe has its own version of Marvel's Venom and it's absolutely horrifying. In the Star Wars The Unknown Regions roleplaying game, an ancient threat to the galaxy was revealed called the Mnggal-Mnggal. The shapeless creature is an urban legend of sorts, as history books haven't been able to tell if it's a species or a single entity capable of creating thousands of versions of itself across the cosmos. Just like Venom, the Mnggal-Mnggal can take a human host and control them like a symbiote.

The Star Wars The Unknown Region hardcover book by Dan Wallace, Rodney Thompson, and Sterling Hershey is a 2010 RPG guide that showed the unexplored and uncharted parts of the Star Wars universe in the Unknown Region. The book explored introduced a large number of areas, alien races, and civilizations completely new to Star Wars. One of the most interesting revelations was an ancient alien known as the Mnggal-Mnggal, who is quite similar to Venom.

The fifth chapter of Star Wars The Unknown Region tells the history of the Mnggal-Mnggal. Like Marvel's God of Symbiotes, the King in Black, the Mnggal-Mnggal claimed to be alive during the "golden age" of the Celestials. Described as a "shapeless" being with potential healing and teleportation abilities, the Mnggal-Mnggal inhabits the Mugg Fallow, a lifeless planet where it first evolved. Over time, the Mnggal-Mnggal has popped up across the galaxy and space stations, as - like Venom - it can be in multiple places at the same time. The Mnggal-Mnggal can shapeshift and take on hosts, where it infects them and hollows out their insides. Frighteningly, the Mngaal-Mngaal can keep a dead host animated and project its own voice through them.

If that wasn't creepy enough, the Mnggal-Mnggal speaks in "verse, metaphors, and riddles," relying on ancient languages when it talks. The being also enjoys toying with people and is unquestionably evil. It's said to seek out control and kills for its own amusement, leading to staking its claim in thousands of worlds. Wallace has even hinted the Mngaal-Mngaal could be connected to the zombie Death Troopers.

The Mnggal-Mnggal might not seem like a huge threat based on its gray ooze-like appearance. However, due to its ability to take over and reanimate hosts, as well as its penchant for killing, the creature is one of the deadliest beings in the Star Wars galaxy. It's not something anyone in the universe ever wants to encounter. It's effectively Star Wars' version of the Venom symbiote but is even scarier. It will be fascinating to see if the Mnggal-Mnggal returns in some form in the upcoming Star Wars comics from Marvel Comics - as its reach means it could already be far past the Unknown Regions by now.
