Marvel supervillain Doctor Doom once had his own Death Star and intended on destroying the Earth. In a Star Wars parody comic, the Latverian ruler had a planet-eating space station (with sharp teeth) that would have made Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith, proud.

Darth Vader and Doctor Doom share a handful of similarities. Both had their magical powers heightened and realized by training with ancient organizations (Jedi and Tibetan Monks). Both wear masks to hide their real, disfigured faces and to make them more intimidating. Both even wear long capes. Marvel saw the chance to play on those similarities in Spidey Super Stories - the comic book adaptation of The Electric Company skit that featured Spider-Man. The stories were fun affairs that often featured Peter Parker teaming-up with a fellow hero. In Spidey Super Stories #31, Spider-Man ended up traveling to space with Sam the Robot, Marvel Boy, and Paul the Gorilla to save Moondragon from Doctor Doom.

Spidey Super Stories #31 by Kolfax Mingo, Win Mortimer, and Mike Esposito featured Spider-Man and company traveling to outer space to stop Doctor Doom's reign and free Moondragon. While in space, the team discovers that Doom's space station, known as the Star Jaws, is a Death Star with teeth and that it can feast on planets. Inside Star Jaws, Spider-Man and his crew manage to defeat Doom and his army of robots, but that doesn't stop the villain from trying to use his planet-killing ship to destroy the entire Earth.

Doom Death Star

The heroes ultimately escape the grasp of the Star Jaws. After working with the Pentagon to send a ridiculous amount of explosives into space, Moondragon users her powers to cloak the T.N.T. as its own planet, placing it right beside the actual Earth. When Doom sees the planet, he attempts to swallow it whole. But, the planet he engulfs is the mirage, and the explosion destroys the Star Jaws.

Doom tried his best to become the Marvel Universe's version of Darth Vader. However, his plans for destroying Earth were put to a halt by Spider-Man, Moondragon, and the U.S. Military. It's too bad because Doom having his own Death Star was extremely on-brand for the character - even if it was a sillier version with teeth. Unfortunately for Doctor Doom, unlike the actual Darth Vader, he didn't have the chance to build a second Death Star after his first one was defeated. Who knew what he would have added to a newer version. Perhaps, a nose to go with the teeth?
