Mark Hamill claps back over some original Luke Skywalker shade from Star Wars: A New HopeHamill frequently has plenty of witty commentary on past Star Wars moments to provide for fans on social media. His recent post proving that Luke Skywalker wasn't too short to be a Stormtrooper harkens back to a classic Princess Leia line.

The Luke Skywalker of A New Hope was still in the beginning of his hero's journey, with dreams of becoming a Jedi and saving the beautiful princess from execution on the first Death Star. When he swoops into Leia's detention cell disguised as a Stormtrooper to save her from imminent death, Leia only has one question. Isn't he a little short to be a Stormtrooper? It's a defining character moment for Princess Leia, and it is rather hilarious that she was the first person in Star Wars movie canon to throw shade at Luke.

Luke Skywalker himself finally responded to his sister's shade more than forty years after the fact. Mark Hamill posted a funny photo on his Twitter page. The image compares the measurements of a toy Luke Skywalker, and a Stormtrooper, and Hamill joked that he realized that the Princess was just sassing him when she asked him that legendary question. Check out the photo in question below, and see how toy Luke measures up to a Stormtrooper.

Clearly, the photo proves that Luke is taller than a Stormtrooper by just a hair. Sadly Hamill's all in good fun clap back has no way of being reciprocated by the sass Queen herself Carrie Fisher. Fisher passed away in 2016, but her portrayal of Princess Leia remains legendary and beloved. Hamill adored his on-screen sister and posted a fond tribute to Fisher on the third anniversary of her death. Princess Leia remains a classic feminist character for many reasons. She was tough, intelligent, and wasn't afraid to wield a blaster when necessary. Leia spoke her mind, even to the men attempting to rescue her, and she never apologized for it. That's why her very first question to Luke remains as an iconic and hilarious example of Star Wars shade.

Star Wars: A New Hope will always remain high on a pedestal for Star Wars fans. It was the film that started it all and introduced us to beloved characters like Luke, Leia, and that scoundrel Han Solo. The first film did a lot of things well, but the thing A New Hope truly excelled at was providing a treasure trove of character moments that took you by surprise. Luke and Leia's first meeting was far from the typical hero saves the princess moment, but that's what made it so unforgettable. Mark Hamill might have finally vindicated Luke's height, but Princess Leia's hilarious Luke Skywalker shade will live on forever.
