Legendary Star Wars actor Mark Hamill says the Jar Jar Binks tongue candy dispenser is the goofiest piece of all Star Wars merchandise. Hamill, of course, is the driving force (for lack of a better word) of the Star Wars franchise after introducing moviegoers worldwide to Luke Skywalker 40 years ago. But as much as Hamill has enjoyed being a part of the Star Wars saga in the classic trilogy – as well The Force Awakens and the upcoming The Last Jedi – he's been a fan of the Star Wars experience, too, both as a collector and show host of the Comic Con HQ web series Pop Culture Quest.
Sharing his love of Star Wars with the world, Hamill frequently engages with fans on social media, and this week he revealed that the Luke Skywalker and split-belly Taun Taun action figure was the goofiest Luke Skywalker toy. But by calling out the disemboweled plaything (which you could tuck Luke inside of, naturally), Hamill opened himself up to a new line of inquiries from fans, including what he thinks is the goofiest piece of Star Wars merchandise of all.
After taking submissions, the famed actor decided it was the Jar Jar Binks tongue candy dispenser from the first Star Wars prequel The Phantom Menace. Hamill revealed his choice in a tweet Saturday:

The "Frenching Jar Jar," as Hamill put it, was suggested by Twitter user HamillMania:

As goofy as the Gungan-inspired item was, that's not to say Hamill didn't consider other bizarre pieces of Star Wars merchandise. Here is one of the runner-ups, courtesy of Twitter user KidKosmic:

Hamill also deemed this Empire Strikes Back-themed item submitted by Hamillicious "Brilliant."

As always, it's great to see Hamill engaging with fans of the Star Wars saga more than four decades after his role of a farm-boy-turned-intergalactic hero made him an international superstar. Hamill's always been accessible and enthusiastic to talk about all things Star Wars, and clearly with his passion for collecting, naming the goofiest pieces of merchandise inspired by the film series is right in his wheelhouse.
Hopefully Hamill will be engaging more in the oddities of the Star Wars experience in the coming months as fans wait with anticipation for Luke Skywalker's biggest chapter yet in The Last Jedi. With the release of the film, of course, will be a smattering of new Star Wars merchandise, and with any luck, some company will come up with a weird item that will rival the Jar Jar tongue candy dispenser. After all, there's a lot of room for weirdness in that galaxy far, far away.
