Mark Hamill reacts to a Star Wars fan edit that turns Luke Skywalker into a woman. Hamill played Luke in the original trilogy, which saw him go from a young farm boy to an experienced Jedi. While Luke's story seemed to come to an end with the trilogy's final installment, Return of the Jedifans were ecstatic when, years later, Hamill was confirmed to return for Disney's new set of Star Wars films. Hamill's appearance in 2015's The Force Awakens amounted to little more than a wordless cameo, but he had a more substantial role in the 2017 follow-up The Last JediUnfortunately, fans were very divided on how that film portrayed Luke, as he ran away from the Resistance and refused to rejoin the fight. Plus, he died at the end of the film.

Hamill also expressed his doubts about the direction Luke's arc took in The Last Jedi, though he appeared to be more forgiving following the movie's release. Hamill played Luke for the very last time in 2019's The Rise of Skywalkerhe appeared at a key moment as a Force ghost to give Rey (Daisy Ridley) some much needed guidance. Some have wondered if Hamill could return as Luke in a future Star Wars project, since Luke himself once said no one is ever really gone. However, Hamill recently said the franchise doesn't need Luke anymore and can move on now.

Still, that doesn't mean Hamill has completely let go of Luke. On social media, Hamill recently shared a fan edit that turned Luke into a woman. Honestly, Luke looks pretty good like this. Hamill also had some fun with the edit by adding the caption "I'll start with a little tune from Guys and Dolls: Luke be a lady tonight-Luke be a lady tonight-Luke, if you've ever been a lady to begin with... Luke be a lady tonight!"

Because he is the one and only Luke Skywalker, fans often turn to Hamill to hear his thoughts on all things Star Wars related. This ranges from protesters playing the Imperial March at police officers to the upcoming season of The MandalorianWhile Hamill has built up an impressive career outside of Star Wars (particularly within the realm of voice work), he will always be remembered as Luke and thus will likely always be commenting on the galaxy far, far away.

One could argue that Disney's sequel trilogy already included a female Luke in the form of Rey. The two characters share a lot of similarities, from their humble beginnings to their powerful abilities. And, of course, they have some questionable figures within their bloodlines. Rey even adopted the name Skywalker at the end of the final film. Still, that's not quite the point of this fun edit, which really just shows how creative Star Wars fans can get.
