The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal wants Nicolas Cage to join the Star Wars show. Lucasfilm debuted its first live-action Star Wars TV series in 2019 alongside the launch of Disney+. Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian focused on mostly new characters in the galaxy far, far away that were still somewhat familiar: the Boba Fett-like Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu a.k.a. Baby Yoda. The series assembled a great cast around Pascal, including Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Taika Waititi, Nick Nolte, and Ming-Na Wen.

Due to The Mandalorian's incredible success from the beginning, Favreau has had no trouble recruiting major actors to join his show. Audiences have since seen Temuera Morrison return as Boba Fett and Mark Hamill help bring a de-aged Luke Skywalker to life. The Mandalorian also brought Rosario Dawson aboard as live-action Ahsoka Tano and Katee Sackhoff as live-action Bo-Katan Kryze. There have also been major guest stars and recurring roles for Werner Herzog, Bill Burr, Sasha Banks, Michael Biehn, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jason Sudeikis, Amy Sedaris, Timothy Olyphant, and John Leguizamo.

It now seems that Pedro Pascal wants Nicolas Cage to join The Mandalorian next. Pascal and Cage recently starred in the meta-movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, where Cage played a version of himself. Following Pascal's appearance at D23 2022, he spoke to Yahoo! about The Mandalorian season 3, and the outlet asked him about the odds of Nicolas Cage making an appearance at some point. Pascal confirmed that he's already asked Cage about doing it, "I already suggested [it]. I already said he would make a great Mandalorian." When director and producer Rick Famuyiwa then asked if Cage would be willing to wear a Mandalorian helmet, Pascal said, "He’ll wear a helmet. Absolutely… Or he could be one of the helmet-less."

The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent (2022)

There are so far no signs that Cage will be in The Mandalorian season 3. After delivering an Oscar-worthy performance in Pig last year, his and Pascal's team-up for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent made for one of the surprise delights of 2022. Cage has several projects in development that he has been working on since that film, including playing Dracula in the 2023 Renfield movie. With set videos still surfacing from The Mandalorian season 3, there is a chance that Cage could still film a cameo if he has not already.

For as fun as it would be to see Cage play a Mandalorian on the Disney+ series, there might be other roles in The Mandalorian he would be better suited for. Nicolas Cage's movies showcase how he is a very eccentric performer, so it would be a shame to keep him hidden underneath one of their signature masks. It could be funny to see him as a more crazy Mandalorian, but Cage could also make for a great villain in The Mandalorian. Hopefully, it is only a matter of time before Pascal gets his wish and Cage cameos in The Mandalorian.
