While Star Wars has fantastic romance and great comedic elements at times, the most exciting parts of these movies are always the action sequences. Whether it's fighting in spaceships, shooting blasters, or the great lightsaber duels, there is plenty of battles within these stories which have helped to make them so exciting to watch.

Everybody in the movies has a different fighting style, with their own unique abilities that they bring to the table. While all the Jedi and Sith Lords are able to showcase their ability, which of the main characters in the movies are truly the greatest fighters within the galaxy?

Han Solo

Han Solo with his blaster in Star Wars Return of the Jedi.

Han Solo might be one of the greatest characters in the Star Wars franchise, and he is someone that ends up in a lot of fights, but that doesn't mean he's one of the greatest fighters. Han often gets himself into sticky situations, but it is normally others who help get him out of them.

However, he is able to hold his own, getting plenty of great shots in as he is more than confident enough with a blaster in his hand. But, in terms of accuracy, there are other characters that just edge what he brings to the table.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett in The Mandalorian

When it comes to characters that aren't able to wield the Force, Boba Fett is one of the best in the fighting department. He's trained that way throughout his life, and he is one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy for a reason.

His aim is superb, and, with a variety of different weapons to take his enemies down, Boba is unpredictable and therefore hard to defeat. He's an iconic character from the franchise, and his fighting ability is a big reason for that.

Rey Skywalker

Rey holds her new yellow Lightsaber in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Rey Skywalker is someone who takes a while to learn that she has the Force, and the ability to be a Jedi, which does set her back a little early on. However, she seems to gain an understanding of how to wield her power quicker than anybody within the franchise.

Rey is a talented Jedi, and she is able to battle well against a lot of different challenges. She is quite raw in her fighting though, which is due to the lack of training, meaning she's not quite as polished as some of the other Jedi.

Count Dooku

Count Dooku is an example of someone who is more polished when it comes to fighting; as a former Jedi who has turned to the Dark Side, he is somebody with a lot of talent. His use of the Force is one of the best amongst everyone in the galaxy, causing huge problems for his enemies.

However, he is also fantastic with a lightsaber. Count Dooku can battle against multiple enemies at once, and he is able to look so relaxed while he does it, which isn't the case for many of the other characters.

Chewbacca

There's a reason why Chewbacca is able to survive throughout the franchise, and that's because he's an elite fighter. While he might not be wielding a lightsaber, that doesn't mean he's not a terrific fighter, with Chewbacca having fantastic aim with his own weapon.

Chewbacca takes down plenty of enemies across the franchise, and he is always reliable within a fighting situation. Chewbacca is loyal, intelligent, and more than able to hold his own against anybody, which makes him one of the strongest fighters.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Anakin Skywalker is the chosen one in Star Wars and someone that is destined to be powerful. He's a skilled pilot, but, with a lightsaber in his hand, he is even better. Anakin harbored this excellent ability from a young age, and, as he gets older, his talent only improves.

As Darth Vader, he is one of the most dominant characters in the galaxy, and that is showcased by his great fight scenes. No matter who he comes up against, Darth Vader always manages to hold his own, which is a sign of an excellent fighter.

Darth Sidious

Darth Sidious in Star Wars

From the Dark Side, Darth Sidious is seen as the ultimate villain within this franchise—and rightfully so, as he is an excellent fighter. He has so much power that battling against him can be extremely difficult, with his use of the Force, adding Force Lightning to his abilities.

With a lightsaber, Darth Sidious has shown that he can hold his own as well, which is particularly true when he battles against Yoda. He's a lot quicker than most might expect, and that is something that gives him an advantage against other people.

Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker with the green lightsaber in Star Wars

Luke Skywalker is another powerful character from the Star Wars universe and someone who is a great fighter. From bullseye-ing womprats on Tatooine as a young farmhand to casting his essence across the galaxy to slow down the First Order, his powers are nearly unlimited.

There's a reason why Luke Skywalker is seen as the ultimate hero of this franchise, and a lot of it is down to his natural fighting ability. He brings great passion into all of his fights as well, which is often a crucial element of him winning them.

Yoda

Star Wars: Master Yoda in the night

Yoda is seen as the most powerful Jedi of all time, and that is something that was clear within his fight scenes. Yoda might not be given as many fighting opportunities within the movies, but his power is clear to see, and, when he does fight, he brings a level of quality that few can match.

His ability to launch himself around from point to point makes him hard to catch, but, when he does get up close, he is just as quick with the lightsaber in his hand. Yoda also has great use of the Force, which he brings into play, too, making him a great all-round fighter.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is ultimately the greatest fighter in Star Wars. He learns from a great Jedi, but he then implements his knowledge to both Anakin and Luke Skywalker, and the fact they both turn out to be great fighters showcases that he's great himself.

Obi-Wan is calm under pressure and has fantastic ability when wielding a lightsaber. While he's not as confident as a pilot, it's still something he is capable of. But, his organization and leadership make him great in the fighting situation, and, when he battles with a lightsaber, he almost always comes out on top.
