Luke Skywalker is forging a new path to discover his secret destiny. In Marvel's new Star Wars comic series, Luke, Leia and Lando make it off of Cloud City, leading the Jedi to adventure solo to a mysterious new planet that will provide some answers to the visions he's been having... involving a mysterious figure calling to him through the Force, and his father's lightsaber.

In Star Wars #4 by Charles Soule, Jesus Saiz, Arif Prianto, Rachelle Rosenberg and Clayton Cowles, Luke tried and failed to retrieve his lost lightsaber in the city's processing room. It's there Luke has another vision while searching for his weapon. In it, he sees Darth Vader warning him "you can't hide forever," Emperor Palpatine telling him "take your weapon!" Yoda tells him "you're weapons, you will not need them," and Obi-Wan Kenobi telling him "this is the weapon of a Jedi Knight." The conflicting messages are capped off by the mysterious figure holding Luke's lightsaber and commanding Luke to "follow your destiny." It's in thia vision that he also sees Leia has been captured and frozen in carbonite.

Luke frees Leia and other prisoners from carbonite, which leads to new members joining the rebellion. After completing the mission, Luke doesn't stick around to celebrate. He is called by the force to visit an unidentified planet where the woman he's seen in visions holds his lightsaber. Luke tells Leia that he's hoping to find answers from the woman, who could be a Jedi. After receiving Leia's blessing for the solo adventure, Luke tells Artoo to look for any planets that match his description of a "trinary star system, water world, red landmasses." After finding the coordinates, Luke revs up the hyperdrive and goes towards his destiny.

Where Luke's adventure goes next is anyone's guess. But, the sidequest should provide much-needed answers on just who exactly is wielding Luke's lightsaber, what their connection to the force is, and who exactly they are. The unidentified character has been heavily teased since the beginning of the latest arc of Star Wars, so don't expect it to be a minor reveal. Luke is on the path to finding his secret destiny and finding this seemingly Jedi-sensitive woman and learning more about his connection to her will surely set the tone for the rest of the series.

Will it be someone entirely new? Someone he's met before? Or someone he doesn't expect? We'll find out more when Star Wars #5 comes out on April 22nd, 2020.
