A highlight of any Star Wars game is getting to play as a Jedi, and Luke Skywalker is arguably the most famous Jedi of all time. He's also the main protagonist of the beloved Original Trilogy, and he's one of the most iconic heroes in cinema. That's why the character has appeared in countless Star Wars video games over the last few decades, even though some versions of Luke are definitely better than others.

The video game versions of Luke Skywalker have been greatly varied in the past, sometimes taking on the role of NPC and sometimes actually becoming a playable character. The best versions of Luke, obviously, are the ones that let people feel what it's like to play as one of the greatest Jedi who every lived. Between his lightsaber and Force powers, Luke is incredibly powerful in most games in which he appears - which are as diversified as his realistic appearance in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 to sillier versions like in LEGO Star Wars or Disney Infinity.

The LEGO Star Wars versions of Luke Skywalker have always been great, and they've kept LEGO's signature fun and wackiness while also showcasing Luke's power. The same can be said for Disney Infinity's version, which comes with the added bonus of a Luke Skywalker figure. Luke can be used in most aspects of Disney Infinity's Star Wars games, as well as its sandbox levels, which definitely makes it a standout. However, Disney Infinity's sudden cancellation in 2016 (and its servers subsequently going down) means most of what made this version of Luke so much fun is gone now.

Why Stat Wars: Battlefront 2's Luke Skywalker Is The Best

Star Wars Battlefront Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is the best version of the character seen in video games so far. Playing as Luke feels very intuitive and real, so players can feel like they're actually a powerful Jedi Knight. The downside is that Luke is only available in one level of the main campaign, on the planet Pillio. But this is one of the greatest moments in the campaign, and it's just proof that a game centered on Luke Skywalker that controls like the Pillio level is something fans definitely need.

Luke Skywalker in Battlefront 2 can be used in multiplayer, however, which is one of its saving graces. It softens the blow of only having Luke available on Pillio in the main campaign. This version of Luke just plays the way Luke should play. From his lightsaber attacks to his Force powers, everything about this version of Luke feels powerful and undeniably cool. It's still one of the reasons to play Battlefront 2, and it's the best video game version of Luke Skywalker so far.

Luke Skywalker's appearances in video games have been varied, but Star Wars: Battlefront 2's version feels true to the character while also making him incredibly powerful. For this reason, it's the best version of Luke Skywalker in a Star Wars game right now.
