A talented Star Wars fan designed his own Inquisitor lightsaber, complete with a hilt that spins. In Star Wars lore, the Inquisitors are a band of dark side Force-sensitive agents who operate under the rule of Darth Vader. Their primary goal is to hunt and eradicate all remaining Jedi in the aftermath of Order 66. The Inquisitors have so far appeared in several Star Wars projects, particularly the animated series Star Wars Rebels. However, they have yet to be depicted in live-action form, though that could change in the near future.

Going into 2021, the Star Wars franchise is at an interesting stage. The movie side of the property is temporarily at a standstill following the conclusion of the Skywalker saga in 2019, and the next film scheduled for release is Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron in 2023. Meanwhile, Star Wars is flourishing on Disney+ with several shows - both animated and live-action - on the way in the coming years. This year is expected to see the release of The Book of Boba Fett, while other shows are entering production.

Fans might currently be without any imminent new Star Wars content, but that won't stop their creativity from flourishing. On social media, creator PatchBots shared a video of his own Inquisitor lightsaber and its impressive spinning hilt. Fans will recall seeing this kind of double-bladed lightsaber in much of the Inquisitors' various appearances, particularly when it's used by the nefarious Grand Inquisitor. Check out the video down below.

As far as fan-made lightsabers go, this one is a really impressive feat. It's also a bit of a trippy visual, as the center of the hilt stands still while the blades spin around it. All in all, it makes one desperately wish to see the Inquisitors make the transition into live-action. There's a chance the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature the Inquisitors, since it will be set following the prequel films and will contain the highly-anticipated return of Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader. Perhaps it won't be much longer before audiences get to see that spinning lightsaber in real life.

Star Wars fans are certainly one of the most creative groups out there, and it will be fascinating to see what impressive works emerge as the franchise continues to expand. Should the Inquisitors actually appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, there could be several more attempts at creating a spinning lightsaber making their way online. Sadly, though, they'll have some big shoes to fill, since the above video is a really excellent start.
