In a new preview for Marvel Comics' Star Wars, it's revealed that Leia Organa seemingly had a vision from the Force much earlier that fans realized. Currently, the War of the Bounty Hunters event is underway, and the Rebels see an opportunity to save Han Solo, trapped in carbonite after the events of The Empire Strikes BackHaving been stolen from the hands of the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, it's clear that this new issue will see Leia incredibly determined to save the love of her life, so much so that it seems her powers in the Force were growing even before Return of the Jedi.

Prior to this new look at Star Wars #14 from writer Charles Soule and artist Ramon Rosanas, it was assumed that Leia's first vision in the Force occurred during her Jedi training with her brother Luke after the Galactic Civil War had been won. Training on the planet Ajan Kloss, Leia received a Force vision about her unborn son Ben, which motivated her to give up her lightsaber, believing that her son would die if Leia continued her Jedi path. However, it seems as though she had her first Force vision much earlier in between the fifth and sixth episodes of the Skywalker saga.

As revealed by this new preview for Star Wars #14, Leia's mind is understandably focused on rescuing Han just as it has been since this new Star Wars comic series began. However, the scene depicted appears to be an abstract look at the future where Han is freed from his carbonite prison, seemingly supporting Leia's determination to succeed and free the man she loves. Additionally, it seems as though the issue will also see Leia and the rest of the Rebels jumping at the chance to get their friend back, now that he's in the possession of the reborn Crimson Dawn. Here's the synopsis and preview pages for the issue:

  • STAR WARS #14
  • WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS TIE-IN!
  • The REBELS finally have a lead on the location of HAN SOLO!
  • It's time to save the captain of the MILLENNIUM FALCON from his frozen carbonite tomb!
  • A general, a Jedi and a Wookiee will mount a desperate rescue mission... But they have no idea what actually awaits them.

It certainly looks like Leia is having a vision through the Force in the preview. However, while it may be her first vision, her connection to the Force has already been seen growing in prior issues of the series. In the earlier Star Wars #4, Leia is able to reach though the Force and call out to Luke just as he called to her in Empire Strikes Back, despite not knowing that that is what she is doing. In the same vein, Leia probably doesn't know that she's experiencing a Force vision in this new issue, as she won't truly recognize the power she's inherited for what it is until Luke confirms their familial connection in Return of the Jedi.

In any case, it's a pretty dynamic introduction for this issue while also confirming that Leia's power in the Force is beginning to grow and manifest itself. Not only that, but seeing as though Star Wars fans already know that the Rebels won't rescue Han until he's already at Jabba's palace, it seems like a good bet that they're in for a pretty challenging time as Marvel's War of the Bounty Hunters event continues.
