In an amazing Star Wars Legends comic, Luke Skywalker once led a clone trooper into battle against a legion of Imperial stormtroopers. Coming from Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Empire series, Red Squadron is on an escort detail when they are attacked by an Imperial regiment determined to wipe them all out. However, they soon receive some much needed support from a most unexpected ally: a clone trooper, despite The Clone Wars having been over for nearly twenty years. Likewise, Luke finds himself embracing the title of general and leading this ready, willing, and able clone survivor into battle against the troopers who succeeded him with the rise of the Empire.

Titled, "General Skywalker", this two-issue arc takes place in Dark Horse's Star Wars: Empire #26-27, coming from writer Ron Marz with artists Adriana Mello and Nicola Scott. It begins with Red Squadron escorting one of the Rebellion's intelligence teams to a remote jungle world to set up a listening post. With not much else to do but wait, Luke goes exploring and he soon finds the remains of a Republic gunship, used by the clone armies and their Jedi generals. Not only that, he also finds a collection of graves nearby. However, the Empire soon arrives, having sent a battalion to destroy them all.

Thanks to the Imperial assault, the Rebels are forced to scatter into the jungle, which is when Luke and Commander Narra came face to face with Clone Trooper BL-1707, also known as Able. Able confirms to the Rebels that his unit had crashed-landed on this remote world during the Clone Wars, leaving him as the only survivor living on this planet for 20 years. After Luke and Narra catch him up to speed on all that he has missed, like the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire, Narra recommends that Luke show Able his lightsaber to convince him of their good intentions.

Seeing this, Able agrees to fight under the command of "Jedi General Skywalker," and the trio gets to work regrouping with their fellow Rebels to stage a counterattack. Thanks to a plan from Able, the Rebels are able to catch the Imperials by surprise and they manage to fight them off long enough to make it to their ships. Able in particular is extremely formidable, determined to carry out his new orders to fight the Empire to the letter, effectively taking out several Stormtroopers while proving his superiority as the galaxy's original trooper.

All in all, seeing Luke Skywalker teaming up with a clone trooper is pretty entertaining and dynamic, giving him the chance to be a Jedi General (if only for one battle). Furthermore, Able gets a renewed purpose, as the end of the arc sees him joining the fight against the Empire with the Rebellion. While this story is now considered Legends and no longer part of the official Star Wars canon, it's still an amazing and noteworthy adventure for Luke Skywalker that all Star Wars fans should definitely know about.
