Things get pretty intense between Rey and Luke in a newly-released Star Wars: The Last Jedi TV spot. Lucasfilm is really pushing their marketing for the Rian Johnson-directed sequel to The Force Awakens with a slew of promos, with the latest one placing a spotlight on the scavenger's journey as she forges her own path own path in this ever-growing mythos.

Rey has gone through quite a lot since we first met her in the deserts of Jakku, and we can expect that more of her story will come to light with the release of The Last Jedi. We'll have to wait whether she stays on the straight path and becomes a Jedi or gets seduced by the dark side like Kylo Ren, although, she did promise Luke that she will not fail him. Nonetheless, it seems that everything will boil down to her determination in overcoming the temptation of turn evil, especially with Snoke lurking in the shadows.

This brand new spot definitely highlights Rey's adventure moving forward as Luke takes her under his wing and tries to impart Jedi knowledge on the young scavenger. Even without proper training, she was able to tap into her strong Force powers in her head-to-head with Kylo Ren. Unfortunately, her strong connection to the Force makes her a bigger risk for the last Jedi as if things go south (once again) she could be a more formidable foe than his nephew. We get snippets of Rey attempting to really tap into the mystical and ubiquitous power in the freshly released clip, leading her to something else than just the light and dark side - perhaps a middle ground concept that has yet to be fully explored in the lore. Whatever it is, it sounds like it is calling to Rey while Luke tells her to resist it. Check out the clip above.

It seems like Rey's training in The Last Jedi will lean more on the mental and spiritual elements, rather than honing her physical abilities. And Luke really focusing on that aspect makes so much sense, considering what happened with his last apprentice. What is interesting, however, is that the extended cut of the same scene sees Luke so freaked out with the incident that he retreats, leaving Rey baffled with what she just experienced. It was revealed recently that Luke's rejection pushed her character to seek guidance from Kylo Ren. We're just unsure if that partnership will pan out well for the dark side, or if Luke will swoop in and meddle with what could be a catastrophic partnership.

Aside from an extended cut of Luke coaching Rey during a meditation session in Ahch-To, we also get a glimpse of Poe's worried and distraught expression aboard a ship while watching a massive explosion. It is difficult to gauge where this fits in Johnson's film, especially with a lot of promos featuring Poe on his modified X-Wing. However, something tells us that there is clearly more to the scene than just your average eruption in the middle of a heated battle. We also see the now much-anticipated head-to-head between Finn and Captain Phasma. Lastly, a flurry of shots featuring General Organa, Kylo Ren, Snoke and those mysterious crystal wolf-looking beings are also included in the latest 30-second Star Wars: The Last Jedi promo.
