Star Wars: The Last Jedi gets a brand new TV spot featuring a brief interaction between Poe Dameron and General Organa. Lucasfilm has been releasing promo bits from the sequel to slowly build up the hype for it until its debut next month. After rolling out a red-laden IMAX poster and a bumper clip that focused on the movie's action, we now get another short sneak peek, this time, giving us a glimpse of Leia's calm presence and leadership amidst chaos as the Resistance gets ready to strike back against the First Order.

Although we only saw a little bit of Leia and Poe's dynamic as senior and subordinate in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we get a sense of the kind of tutelage that the Black Squadron leader is getting from the princess, thanks to the Star Wars: Poe Dameron comics. Despite being a skilled operative, Poe's overenthusiasm and impulsiveness oftentimes lead him into tricky situations -- something that needs to be tamed down if he wants to rise through the ranks in the Resistance and possibly be even their leader one day. The freshly released spot offers more in regard to the unofficial training that he is getting from Leia as we see him actively pursue his boss' approval before engaging in battle.

The new promo features a brief exchange between General Leia and Poe with the latter running to the former asking, “Permission to jump in an X-Wing and blow something up?” Leia then responds, “Permission granted.” The Resistance's best pilot then is seen taking his modified ship for a cool spin with BB-8 in tow as he joins what looks like an intense space dogfight. Elsewhere in the 30-second promo spot, we can see shots of Kylo, Rey, and Luke separately as Supreme Leader Snoke's voice echoes in the background, as well as snippets of what could be the film's final battle in Crait. Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron in Star Wars The Last Jedi

It looks like Leia and Poe's quick interaction is an extension of the shot we saw of the Resistance leader in the latest full trailer for The Last Jedi where her worried face is intercut with that of Kylo Ren supposedly trying to blow up a ship, giving the impression that he is actually trying to kill his mother. However, a lot of fans are leaning towards the assumption that much of the sequences in that trailer were edited in a way that could be misleading. Whatever that full context of it, this new footage offers us a bit more information regarding what is happening with the Freedom Fighters seemingly on the verge of retaliation against the onslaught of the First Order.

Based on the trailers released for the Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Poe is somewhat at the forefront of the Resistance's fight against the First Order while Rey is far removed the chaos as she trains with Luke in Ahch-To and Finn off to his mission with newbie Rose seeking out codebreaker, DJ. We know that General Organa has been grooming Poe to possibly one day be the leader of the Resistance and we may see the motivated pilot step into the mantle sooner rather than later due to Carrie Fisher's untimely death last year. And with the character ushering us to possibly the next trilogy, he may very well be the face of the Resistance after Leia's send-off (however that will be).
