Finn finally awakes from his coma and is wondering where Rey is in the latest TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. When last we saw the stormtrooper-turned-hero at the end of The Force Awakens, he was recovering from injuries suffered during his brief lightsaber duel with Kylo Ren. Finn unfortunately had his back sliced open, so it wasn't going to be an easy rehab for the youngster. In fact, the recuperation is rumored to require the use of a bacta suit, and not just a tank like Luke Skywalker used in The Empire Strikes Back.
Of course, Finn eventually gets back on his feet, seeing that he embarks on a secret Resistance mission with newcomer Rose Tico that sees him go undercover on a First Order star destroyer. However, it stands reason to believe that at first, he's going to be somewhat discombobulated as he tries to make sense of everything that's happening. In the newest footage released from Episode VIII, that's exactly what's going on.

Lucasfilm has unveiled another promo for Last Jedi, this one spending most of its time on Finn. The spot begins with the first moment of Finn regaining consciousness, as he screams "REY!" Poe Dameron then comes to his buddy's aid, offering any help he can give. All Finn wants to know is where Rey is, no doubt disappointed to learn that she has flown far away to the remote planet of Ahch-To to find the exiled Luke Skywalker. The commercial also recycles previously-released scenes, which show Rey asking Luke to train her and Poe giving the Resistance a pep talk before a major fight. You can watch it in the space above.
Since the intro with Finn is the newest content, many fans will be honing in on that. It is sweet that Finn's first words post-coma are asking about Rey, but viewers shouldn't attempt to deduce any deeper meaning (i.e. romance) from that. Rey and Finn are close friends following their adventure in Episode VII, and Rey was the last person Finn saw before he was hurt. It's no surprise at all Rey is at the forefront of Finn's mind as he wakes up, but it doesn't mean love is about to blossom between the two. Rian Johnson has already said there is no Han/Leia equivalent in his film, which is probably for the best. There are already a few Empire Strikes Back parallels present in The Last Jedi, so it's good there's at least one key difference.
Still, this doesn't make the dynamic between Rey and Finn any less emotional. The Force Awakens did such an excellent job setting up that relationship, many moviegoers are eager to see the two of them back together at some point. That appears to be in the cards, since John Boyega and Daisy Ridley were both seen on the Crait location during the behind-the-scenes sizzle reel that came out at the D23 Expo. While Rey and Finn are still too early in their Star Wars tenures for their potential reunion to rival Luke and Leia in terms of poignancy, it will still be nice to seem them catch up after what should be another grueling journey.
