The European premiere for Star Wars: The Last Jedi at the Royal Albert Hall in London featured fan favorite actors and the British Royal family. Tensions are building as the worldwide release dates for Star Wars: The Last Jedi grow ever closer. Though they had no way of getting into the film's European premiere in London, fans still lined the streets outside the Royal Albert Hall on the night of the gala event.

The reasons for this devotion were two-fold. British Star Wars fans hoped to get a glimpse of the stars of the film and some of those on the front row of the red carpet were fortunate enough to get to shake hands or snap selfies with their favorite actors. Yet they were also hoping to get a glimpse of The British Royal Family.

Continuing on immediately from where Star Wars: The Force Awakens ended, The Last Jedi is perhaps the most highly anticipated movie of 2017. It is the eighth episode of the Skywalker Saga that began with the original Star Wars film in 1977 and serves as the middle chapter of the series' latest trilogy. It is arriving in theaters in time to commemorate the Star Wars franchise’s 40th anniversary and promises to be darker in tone than its predecessor.

As the film opens, Rey (Daisy Ridley) has traveled with Chewbacca and R2-D2 on the Millennium Falcon to find the exiled Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and begin her formal training as a Jedi Knight. However, the man Rey meets is not what she expected, being cynical and broken following the deaths of his students. Indeed, Skywalker believes the Jedi should die with him.

Meanwhile, the war between the Resistance and First Order rages on, with both sides looking for whatever advantages they can gain. General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) regroups with trusted allies Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega), while Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) completes the Dark Side training of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

In addition to the returning characters from The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi introduces the characters of Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern) and DJ (Benicio del Toro).
