Star Wars: The Last Jedi Kid's Book Teases How the Story Begins

Chewbacca and a Porg in the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars The Last Jedi

A new Star Wars hidden image book offers some insight into the early scenes in The Last Jedi. With the release date of the latest Star Wars film only a few months away, Lucasfilm has finally begun their marketing push for the movie. The initial bit of promotion has come in the form of interviews with The Last Jedi cast and crew that have provided insight into its story.

On the more political end of the spectrum, the Resistance will be dealing with the losses they suffered in The Force Awakens. As a result, they'll be weak from both external and internal threats and fighting to escape their former base. The more mystical side of the movie, meanwhile, will be centered around Luke, Rey, Chewie, and R2 on Ahch-To, where the former Jedi Knight has been in isolation. The island itself will feature a number of alien creatures that have been keeping Luke company. Now, we have a better idea of how both settings will be introduced in the film, thanks to a new piece of merchandise.

SWNN got their hands on a new Star Wars Look & Find book which features scenes from both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. The two from this year's film take place on Ahch-To and during a space battle above D'Qar, respectively. Along with the playful images, each scene has a brief description that provide some plot teases for The Last Jedi:

Daisy Ridley as Rey and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars The Last Jedi

“Starkiller Base is vanquished, but Kylo Ren has escaped. Thanks to Rey and her friends, BB-8 brought Luke Skywalker’s coordinates back to the Resistance. On their behalf, Rey travels to the planet Ahch-To, hoping to enlist Luke’s help. While Rey persuades the last Jedi to join the Resistance, look for these rocky features…”

Most of the description for Ahch-To merely sets up what we already know, but the real interesting part is the description explicitly referring to Luke as the titular last Jedi. While this could just be artistic license, toy and tie-in merchandise often reveals or outright spoils certain movie moments when it comes to blockbusters.

Meanwhile, the description for the Resistance and First Order battle above D'Qar establishes what looks to be an early scene that we've only seen teased in promotional material so far:

“Meanwhile, Poe is busy doing some persuading of his own. He and BB-8 are making runs through the First Order’s latest assault fleet to clear the way for the Resistance bomber squadron, headed by ace pilot Paige. BB-8 will keep the coordinates straight. You look out for these First Order ships…”

Following the events of The Force Awakens, the Resistance will come face-to-face with the First Order in the space above D'Qar as they attempt to evacuate their compromised base. During the conflict, we'll see Poe and BB-8 back together, and it looks like we'll also meet a new pilot named Paige.

While nothing from the books is too revealing, it does help set the stage for how The Last Jedi will open. It should also get kids excited for the film, which is said to be suitable for most of them. As we await the release of the movie, more products like this book will likely continue to tease moments from The Last Jediso fans weary of spoilers may want to avert their eyes.
