An update on Star Wars' Lando series has been given by actor Donald Glover. The Disney+ series, set to focus on the infamous Lando Calrissian, was first announced by the company in the later part of 2020, alongside other Star Wars entities such as Andor and The Acolyte. Though very few details were provided, other than Dear White People creator Justin Simien being slated to develop the series. Some viewers guessed that the show would follow along with the "Calrissian Chronicles" holo-diary Lando was seen creating in 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story to fill in the gap of time between that film and the original Star Wars trilogy.

Still, it's been unclear as to whether Glover will be stepping into the role as young Lando or Billy Dee Williams will be portraying an older Lando. With Williams' return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the latter idea seems more plausible than viewers may have first guessed. Between Lando's journey to becoming the Baron Administrator of Bespin's Cloud City to hunting down the assassin Ochi with Luke Skywalker, there's a lot of time to cover for the famed scoundrel's adventures in the Star Wars galaxy. Everything is still speculation for viewers at this point, as no new details have emerged about the series ever since it was first announced.

Now, Glover has provided an update of his own on the series' development. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! promoting Atlanta season 3, he was directly asked about the "Lando project" he was working on for Disney+. Rather than dodging the question, Glover spoke right to it, insisting that "I like to blossom, and then go away" but he does "have like a ton of a stuff" he's been working on. His choice to answer the question in such a way is quite the testament to his involvement with the Lando series, which is something viewers couldn't safely assume before. Read everything Glover had to say in response to Kimmel's question below:

“[Laughs] Am I…? […] No, yeah… You know, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom, and then go away. […] And right now it’s definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on, but I just wanted it all to come out at the same time. I feel like that’s what’s important to me.”

In the true style of a franchise actor, Glover gave away the least amount of information that he could while still speaking volumes to the audience about how the series is coming along. There still hasn't been any updates on the rest of the creative team aside from Simien, but with Glover's experience producing for television, it's possible he may be even more included in the development of the Lando series than viewers previously thought. This seems to make the direction of the show lean more towards a "Calrissian Chronicles" type of approach, but it doesn't leave out the possibility that Williams could in fact return if the series becomes a larger biopic of Lando's life.

The time periods that can be covered in this series are wide and vast for the character, especially with the hint that Glover is likely coming back to work on it. Lando has lent himself to other Star Wars entities such as Star Wars Rebels, which makes for quite the cluster of adventures viewers know very little about. The beloved side character from the original Star Wars trilogy is now one step closer to stepping into his own main character role for the first time with the mention of Lando being circulated once again. With Star Wars Celebration less than two months away, it's likely more details about the series will finally be revealed.
