Kelly Marie Tran isn't sure she'd be interested in returning to the world of Star Wars to play Resistance hero, Rose Tico, again down the road. Tran debuted as Rose in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a brave, scrappy Resistance mechanic who has dreams of becoming a great hero. She was paired off with Finn (John Boyega) and had a world spanning adventure with him before nearly dying at the end of The Last Jedi in order to save Finn.

Tran returned for Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, but in a significantly reduced role for Rose. In between the films, Tran endured horrific treatment online from trolls and bullies who inundated her social media feeds with hate and racism. Tran rather understandably deleted her social media accounts and has been somewhat wary of the more intense corners of Star Wars fandom since. Her career has continued on unabated though, with her latest role being the lead in Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon.

In an interview with IGN, Tran seemed unsure of her willingness to revisit her popular Star Wars character, elaborating that she feels like a much different person than when she made those films. Tran admits she misses aspects of the character, but is both unsure she'd personally want to revisit Rose or if there'd be a place for her in the future of the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars' future both on the big screen and small screen figures to be robust for years to come. On the movie side, there's Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron, Taika Waititi's mysterious project, as well as Rian Johnson's own trilogy. Things are even more loaded on the television side, with Disney+ series The Mandalorian still one of the most popular shows in the world. There's also a multitude of shows coming to the streamer, including an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series, as well as Mandalorian spinoffs, like Ahsoka and Rangers Of The New Republic. Animated fare like The Bad Batch and Visions are just icing on the cake.

Rose Tico had the makings of a classic Star Wars character. She had a strong personality and bounced off Boyega's Finn to wonderful effect. The fact that she was so utterly sidelined for The Rise Of Skywalker is one of that film's many, many issues. And while there's no obvious immediate avenue for Tran to reprise the character, it would be a shame if she never got the chance to give Rose the Last Jedi followup she deserves.
