The Star Wars universe is expanding like never before, with new spinoff series added to the franchise every few months. After the smash success of series like The Mandalorian, it seems like Star Wars fans are in for a golden age of content, the likes of which parallel the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the highly-anticipated limited series Kenobi, starring Ewan McGregor, scheduled to hit Disney+ on May 25th, several fans have taken to Reddit to express their desired candidates for the next Jedi to get their own spinoff series in the next few years.
Bariss Offee
AnotherClicheName96 indicates their interest in seeing several "dark side wielders" given their own spinoff, though not necessarily Sith. They offer one particularly interesting suggestion in Barriss Offee, the fallen Padawan of Master Luminara Unduli, who betrayed the Jedi toward the end of the Clone Wars, bombing the Temple as a protest against the Jedi's hypocrisy.
Barris would be an incredibly interesting subject to follow in her own spinoff, especially considering her mysterious absence from Star Wars canon after the fall of the Jedi. It has not yet been revealed what happened to the fallen Jedi after Order 66, but many have wondered if she could have become an Inquisitor, a question which a potential spinoff would certainly answer.
Jocasta Nu
Reddit user scipi9 may have been joking when they suggested "the librarian" after being asked which Jedi would make great candidates for future spinoffs, but no character is too small to make ripples in Star Wars. They refer, of course, to the character of Master Jocasta Nu, who quite unhelpfully advises Obi-Wan Kenobi in his search for the missing planet of Kamino in Attack of the Clones.
While little has been seen of Master Nu outside of the films and a few scattered appearances in animation, she could actually make for a perfect window into what the Jedi were like before the beginning of the Clone Wars. Given her age, Nu would have lived through many of the events preceding the prequel movies and could make an interesting lens through which the audience could experience such events.
Bastila Shan
DemonMaster2162 voices an opinion that aims to bring the Old Republic back to prominence in the Star Wars franchise, suggesting that a spinoff series follow the exploits of Bastila Shan. They are of the belief that "bringing the Old Republic into Canon... would bring a lot of wayward fans of Star Wars back into the fold."
Bastila Shan is one of the greatest characters in the Old Republic games, a perfect candidate for the general audience's first introduction to this era of Star Wars lore. Not only that, but her very own spinoff could be a breath of fresh air for fans of the franchise, who may one day grow weary of seeing stories play out in the same era over and over again.
Cal Kestis
Though they aren't necessarily looking for a full series, Reddit user muduke would "love to see Cal Kestis make an appearance in something," calling upon actor Cameron Monaghan to reprise his role from the Fallen Order video game.
Fallen Order impressed plenty of Star Wars fans, who immediately found themselves endeared to the former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis as he survived through the early years of the Empire. However, the character's fate is largely left unexplored, with fans wondering where the Fallen Order sequel could go. In the meantime, it might be nice for fans to catch Kestis in another project, or even an interlude in the form of a spinoff series.
Quinlan Vos
Quinlan Vos is an exciting prospect for many fans of the franchise. The Redditor maybe_a_jedi pitches a "crime thriller about him [Quinlan Vos] going into deep cover investigations." The character has a long history with both the Light Side and the Dark Side of the Force, which could make for quite a compelling series.
This Jedi Master was, by the standards of the Order, a maverick in the field, the wild card that they hoped to never have to use. Not only did he engage in the attachments forbidden by the Jedi, but he also briefly served as an apprentice to Count Dooku himself. There is endless material to explore about Master Vos in his own series, especially considering the fact that he is presumed to have survived the Great Jedi Purge.
Kit Fisto
When asked which Jedi had the best potential for a spinoff series, Wasted-Genius wasted no time with their answer, writing: "The only correct answer is Kit Fisto." Master Kit Fisto was a member of the Jedi Council during the Clone Wars, who lead an attack on the Lair of General Grievous and lead the Republic reinforcements during the Battle of Mon Cala. Fisto was eventually killed in a duel with Sheev Palpatine.
Kit Fisto is a character that has yet to be fully fleshed out by Star Wars media, giving creators a wide berth in how they could adapt his story. His exploits before and during the Clone Wars are certainly worth exploring, should he ever find his way to his own Disney+ series.
Plo Koon
Redditor Abject_Cellist_4896 talks about their desire to see a series centered around Master Plo Koon, writing "I always thought he was cool in the prequels, but The Clone Wars made him way better in my opinion, and I'd love to see him more fleshed out in his own series."
There is plenty of material to explore in Plo Koon's life, from his time as a member of the Jedi council to his final days fighting in the Clone Wars before Order 66. His return post-Order 66 is not totally out of the question either, as his character was the Jedi whom the creative team behind The Mandalorian used to mask the appearance of Luke Skywalker in the season 2 finale.
Count Dooku
Sometimes, it can be more interesting to see a Jedi fall. That is, of course, the idea behind lukoreta's spinoff pitch regarding the character of Count Dooku, which they sell as a "sort of a three-act 'biopic.'" Part of their pitch includes the segment in Dooku's life in which he grows disillusioned with the Jedi Order and, eventually, breaks away.
Count Dooku is one of the greatest villains in all of Star Wars, played by the iconic Sir Christopher Lee. Since Lee's death in 2015, Dooku cannot again be reprised in live-action without a recasting, though lukoreta has that handled, suggesting Benedict Cumberbatch as a younger version of the character.
Qui-Gon Jinn
While responding to a post asking for potential Jedi spinoff candidates, Redditor Dijitalafy writes "Qui-Gon Jinn, I loved him in [The Phantom Menace] when I was a kid!" Liam Neeson's Jedi, though featured only once in live-action, has become quite popular in the Star Wars fandom since his debut over two decades ago.
In many ways, Qui-Gon Jinn steals the show in The Phantom Menace, presenting himself as a different kind of Jedi than the ones in the temple. It would seem as though Qui-Gon is what a Jedi should be, rather than what the Jedi had become. As such, a spinoff about his character would undoubtedly be fascinating to watch, as he has his quarrels with the Jedi council.
Mace Windu
A Reddit poll by user Jiachobucci posed the question about which Jedi characters should receive their very own spinoff series. Prevailing over other popular characters like Ki-Adi Mundi, Luminara Unduli, and even Master Yoda himself was Mace Windu, the stern and powerful final leader of the Jedi council before Great Purge.
Many fans have been yearning for Samuel L. Jackson to return to his role of Mace Windu, though Jackson himself might be the strongest proponent for such a reprisal. Despite the character's supposed death in Revenge of the Sith, many believe that he may have indeed survived, with some even going so far as to suggest that he was the one who saved the youngling Grogu from the attack on the Jedi temple.
