As Cal Kestis explores different areas in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, there are upgrades called Health Essence that players can pick up to increase their Max Health. A separate improvement from Stims, getting these Essences allows players to have a better chance to fight the tougher enemies seen later in the game. Finding all of these upgrades is almost required on higher difficulties, where bosses can nearly defeat Cal in one strike without these Max Health bonuses.
Players have two ways to increase Cal's maximum health in the game, either by spending Skill Points on Survival upgrades or collecting Health Essence artifacts from across different areas. The Survival skill tree has three upgrade options that give the players a flat bonus to their maximum health, with each improvement costing more points to get. The first upgrade is an easy one for players to invest in early.
How to Use Skill Points to Upgrade Health in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
One of the available Skill Trees for players to explore in the Survival category is called Resilience, which has several passive buffs. The central path on this tree relates to the player's maximum health, with three connected nodes in total. No other skills in this tree may be unlocked until players purchase the first upgrade, which only costs 1 Skill Point to get and apply to Cal permanently.
Skill Points can be a bit tricky to find for the later upgrades though, so players should consider completing main missions, pursuing Rumors, and scanning everything they are able to find with BD-1. All of these methods are great ways for earning Skill Points faster in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, along with Force Tears and their challenges found in different stages of the game.
How to Find Every Max Health Essence
There are thirteen Health Essences that exist among the collectibles of the game, found on Coruscant, Jedah, Koboh, Rambler's Reach, and the Shattered Moon. Players might struggle trying to get to any of these items since a majority of them are found past either puzzles or other challenges. Each Health Essence basically lets players take one more hit from enemies before having to use a Stim, making them a reward worth taking the time to track down.
There are 13 different Health Essences players can track down on Coruscant, Jedah, Koboh, Rambler's Reach, and the Shattered Moon that can upgrade Cal's maximum health.
Unlike the Music Track collectibles in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that are found in chests and from vendors, Max Health upgrades are found in blue crystals in the wild. These artifacts represent Essences tied to the Force. While these objects could also grant improvements to Cal's Max Force and Stim capacity, there are a select few that tie into increasing Max Health.
Area |
Health Essence Location |
Where to Find |
---|---|---|
Coruscant |
Undercity Meats |
Down a bright alley right before players learn the Confuse Force ability. Guarded by a Frenzied Jotaz legendary enemy. |
Koboh |
Derelict Dam |
Past a red metal door that players must Force Pull to open, after defeating a Gorocco on a platform past the bridge behind this area's Meditation Point. |
Riverbed Watch |
From the roof of the watchtower next to the Meditation Point, players can climb even higher to the Essence, which sits past a B2 Super Battle Droid and several other droid enemies. |
|
Rehabilitation Wing |
Once players defeat Dagan Gera in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from the Forest Array, the Essence will be in the room where they fought the boss. |
|
Devastated Settlement |
Players need the Koboh Grinder upgrade before accessing this Essence, which sits close to the spot where they met Caij. Going to a room with an empty orb coupler leads players to fight Spikers and a Gorocco after climbing up a nearby wall. A path to the right leads to a room with a needed orb amplifier that is blocked by a Koboh Barrier, which must be destroyed. Taking the orb from this room back to the coupler unlocks a gate that reveals the Essence inside. |
|
Yurt Barracks |
Left of the Lucrehulk Core Meditation Point, players can take a quick shortcut by dashing mid-air to leap across a ledge leading toward the lower levels after using a metal beam to cross a similar gap. |
|
Hunter's Quarry |
Following a Rumor here leads players to a small factory that produces small orbs that follow Cal on a yellow tether. Taking one of these to a wall and using Force to fling it makes the wall explode, giving access to a small path. Producing another orb for another wall at the end of the path lets players destroy it as well, with the Essence inside. |
|
Forward Control Tower |
Defeating Dagan Gera a second time on the Lucrehulk awards players with another free Health Essence. |
|
Marl Cavern |
Upgrading BD-1 in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is required to reach this Essence, which lies close by the Fogged Expanse Meditation Point. Shooting an Electro-Dart on the left from here brings a panel that players can wall-run across. From here, players must take the left path by using an ascension cable to climb up a ledge, going to another platform that goes toward Marl Cavern. A small metal platform glowing orange inside has the Essence and can be reached with some more wall-runs. |
|
Shattered Moon |
Small Passage |
Right when players get to the Shattered Moon, under a Force Pulled grate past a small passage that Cal can squeeze into past a couple of Bedlam Raiders. |
Automated Forge |
When players are in the Abandoned Foundry, they can travel from a small control room to a small area leading outside onto yellow beams. Behind them lies the Essence, which can be reached by wall-running. |
|
Jedah |
Monastery Walls |
Several pillars with small wall-run can be reached once players can use the Force to pull themselves through the air. Careful platforming leads to the Essence at the very end. |
Rambler's Reach |
Swindler's Wash |
In the secluded valley, on top of a rocky spire that players can easily reach through a couple of consecutive wall-runs. The Essence is found at this location for players to collect the last upgrade to their Max Health in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. |
