The prequel Star Wars movies divided fan opinion when they were first released, but new enemies and locations seen in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are showing that aspects from the prequel era can be integrated into the classic Star Wars setting. In the latest trailer, several elements that would have been prevalent during the Clone Wars can be seen. The mixing of the old and new was originally introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order but is now seen coming more to the forefront in Jedi: Survivor.

Set five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in the year 9 BBY, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shows the Empire still growing in power. It has been 10 years since the end of the Clone Wars and the fall of the Republic; however, Jedi: Survivor shows that that era has not been forgotten. From locations, enemies, and equipment seen in the background, Jedi: Survivor’s trailer shows that the Clone Wars left its mark on the galaxy.

Iconic Clone Wars Elements Seen In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's Trailer

One of the more notable things in the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer was how many droids were present. Cal can be seen fighting no less than four types of Separatist droids, some of which look to have been re-purposed by new owners. Others seem to be defending an abandoned Trade Federation ship which players may get to explore on one of Jedi: Survivor's massive new planets. However, all exist seamlessly in the more classic Star Wars setting under the rule of the Empire originally seen in A New Hope.

Star Wars Rebels was the first to integrate the prequel era Clone Wars with the classic Empire setting in the episode "The Last Battle." In it, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb, and Rex faced off against Separatist battle droids who refused the shutdown order. The episode is a great example of mixing the old with the new and giving closure to characters such as Rex and the droid leader Kalani. Rebels also devoted several episodes to explaining what happened to the people of Geonosis after they had built the Death Star for the Empire.

When it comes to Star Wars games, Jedi: Fallen Order brilliantly showed the passing of the torch from one era to the next by starting the game on the scrap planet of Bracca. On Bracca, crews are literally seen demolishing the old prequel era to help build the new Empire, the most classic and familiar setting for the franchise. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor takes this a step further by placing familiar aspects of the prequel aesthetic, such as battle droids, in a setting more akin to the original trilogy.

Along with iconic prequel elements such as B1 battle droids, BX droid commandos, and Magna Guards, Cal is also going to be exploring locations previously only seen in the prequel movies or the Clone Wars animated series. The Jedi: Survivor trailer reveals Cal battling new enemies, and as he is fighting a group of commando droids, a Trade Federation Core ship can be seen in the background. This seems to be the same ship seen later in the trailer as Cal swings through its interior. Inside, more battles droids, B1 and B2, defend the ship as Separatist tanks and equipment is seen in the background.

The trailer also seems to show Coruscant, only seen outside the prequel era in Andor, where Cal will no doubt face off against the unidentified Pau'an senator from the teaser trailer who appears to have Cal's lightsaber. In another scene, Cere can be seen with a bookcase reminiscent of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, further integrating prequel visuals with the traditional Star Wars universe setting. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shows that the prequel era has its place in the Star Wars universe and that elements of it can be referenced and used in Star Wars settings beyond the Clone Wars.
