Plenty of interesting new details about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have been leaked ahead of the game’s next big unveiling at The Game Awards 2022, including potential blaster gameplay and DLC character skins. While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still set to be shown off during Thursday’s big event, a leak has already teased the game’s potential launch date of March 16, 2023.

The same leak that revealed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s possible release date also contained images of the game’s pre-order bonuses - which provide clues about new combat options for Cal Kestis. According to TheGamer, players who pre-order Star Wars Jedi: Survivor could have access to alternate outfits inspired by characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo. There will also be skins for BD-1, Cal’s lightsaber, and a new blaster weapon - which aligns with previously revealed material that depicted Cal with a blaster. The Steam page that once contained this leaked information also mentions new Force abilities and lightsaber styles, meaning that Cal will have plenty of new moves to take down enemy stormtroopers with in his next adventure.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Leaks Confirm Blaster Gameplay

The most interesting detail about this new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor leak is the fact that Cal is set to use a blaster, as the former Jedi Padawan was limited to his customizable lightsaber in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed a blaster pistol at Cal’s side while watching the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor teaser trailer that was released back in May, and a redesigned Cal Kestis figure also prominently featured a firearm. This new leak all but confirms that Cal's arsenal will expand for the sequel, although it's unclear how it will work in combat.

While Jedi Knights tend to frown on the “clumsy and random” weapons used by the non-Force sensitive beings of the galaxy, Jedi: Survivor would hardly be the first Star Wars game to see its hero wield a blaster and lightsaber simultaneously. The beloved Star Wars: Jedi Knight series featured a wide range of blasters for players to use, even after the series shifted from a Star Wars-flavored Doom clone to a third-person action series that contains some of the best Star Wars lightsaber combat around.

It remains to be seen how Cal Kestis’s new blaster will be implemented in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but it could add plenty of new combo options to Jedi: Fallen Order’s blistering Soulslike lightsaber combat. At the very least, players will be able to customize this new blaster with DLC skins pulled from the classic Star Wars movies, and fans might get to see it in action when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is shown off at this year’s Game Awards 2022 livestream on Thursday.
