Star Wars Jedi: Survivor promises to add several new enemies for players to take down, many of which have already been featured in previous Star Wars media. Set five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor will continue the story of Cal Kestis as he and his faithful droid companion BD-1 take on the Empire.

Cal has already made several dangerous enemies on this quest, with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order featuring all manner of stormtroopers and other Imperial forces out to capture or eliminate the former Jedi Padawan. Force-wielding villains like the Inquisitors and Nightsister clan of Dathomir made formidable bosses for Cal, and even the dreaded Darth Vader confronted Cal in Jedi: Fallen Order. This hasn’t changed in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as the teaser trailer that was shown off earlier this year provided fans a glimpse at a mysterious Imperial Senator who appears to have some sort of sinister plan for Cal.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Features A Mix Of Imperial & Clone Wars Enemies

A further look at Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was given during December’s Game Awards 2022 livestream, showing off gameplay footage and even more of the game’s plot and characters. In addition to a few new moves and lightsaber styles for players to unleash, the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor gameplay trailer (uploaded by the EA Star Wars YouTube channel) revealed several new enemy types - including a few fan-favorite droids from the prequel era and a pair of bounty hunters that seem to be working for the mysterious figure that was previously shown in a bacta tank in Jedi: Survivor’s earlier teaser. All of these foes will pose a challenge to Cal, and even more could be unveiled in the build-up to Jedi: Survivor’s now-confirmed March 17, 2023 release date.

Battle Droids Return From The Clone Wars In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Tie-in figures for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor hinted that Cal could face a familiar enemy from the prequel era, and sure enough, December’s trailer featured the return of the classic B1 battle droid. These loyal but dim-witted mechanical soldiers were first introduced in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and have since served as the primary cannon fodder for the Separatist army during the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars. B2 super battle droids also appear, along with Imperial Sentry droids seen in Star Wars Rebels.

At the end of the war, the Emperor had the remaining battle droids deactivated and decommissioned, but it seems a few of them have remained in the time of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. In the trailer, small squadrons of droids can be briefly seen getting cut down by Cal Kestis’s rare double-bladed lightsaber and falling victim to his new blaster bolt-freezing Force powers - so it seems things haven’t changed too much from the Clone Wars. It's currently unclear if the droids belong to a Separatist holdout or to a private army.

BX Droid Commandos From The Clone Wars Are In Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced fans to an upgraded, deadlier model of battle droid dubbed the BX Droid Commandos. These enhanced droids were first shown off in the fan-favorite Season 1 episode “Rookies,” where they quickly proved their skills in warfare and espionage. They have since made multiple appearances in The Clone Wars and can be seen very briefly at the end of the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer, where they appear to be wielding electric staffs similar to the ones utilized by General Grievous’s Magna Guard enforcers. These weapons can block lightsabers, but luckily Cal has a new trick up his sleeve in the form of a powerful Star Wars video game lightsaber inspired by Kylo Ren and the Jedi of the High Republic.

General Grievous' Magna Guards Threaten Cal In Jedi: Survivor

Speaking of the Magna Guards, these staff-wielding mechanical warriors will also be present in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, as shown in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment at the beginning of the Game Awards 2022 trailer. The IG-100 Magna Guards were first introduced in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith and have since made appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. During the war, they often accompanied high-ranking Separatist officials like General Grievous and Count Dooku, using their signature electrostaffs to repeal any would-be assassins. Grievous himself played a key role in Merrin's backstory in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, so it seems only fitting that his bodyguards of choice made their presence known in the upcoming sequel.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Will Have Cal Battle A Wampa

Not all of the enemies hunting Cal in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are droids. The dreaded Wampa ice monster should be immediately familiar to longtime Star Wars fans, as it famously menaced Luke Skywalker on the icy world of Hoth at the beginning of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. As shown in the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer, players will encounter a brown version of this classic creature on a much warmer planet - though this makes the beast no less dangerous. Indeed, this Wampa is shown tossing poor Cal around like a ragdoll in what seems to be a boss encounter near the beginning of the trailer.

Jedi: Survivor Villains - Cal Appears To Be Hunted By Two Bounty Hunters

Star Wars Jedi Survivor - Official Reveal Trailer Gen'Dai character

Cal ran into his fair share of bounty hunters while on the run from the dark side's Inquisitors in Jedi: Fallen Order, and it seems this will continue in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The recent trailer has the former Jedi encounter a pair of new mercenaries, a large, purple alien wearing body armor and a shorter masked being with a lightsaber-resistant electostaff. They both wish to prove to Cal why the Jedi are all but extinct at the time of Jedi: Survivor, and Cal is forced to defend himself against the masked bounty hunter with his new dual lightsaber stance.

In another scene, the alien bounty hunter (who is speculated to be the same species as Durge from Star Wars: Clone Wars) is shown conspiring with the mysterious individual in the bacta tank. This suggests that the pair of killers-for-hire will be a persistent threat to Cal throughout Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Jedi: Survivor's Mysterious Bacta Tank Character Looks Like The Main Villain

The initial teaser trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor showed Cal standing in front of a mysterious figure floating in a bacta tank. This sparked much discussion among fans about who this being is, including theories that he may be the real Cal Kestis while the one players have controlled since Jedi: Fallen Order is in fact a clone. This doesn’t appear to be the case in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s latest trailer - which opens with Cal awakening him and a voiceover narration about how he was betrayed by “the one he trusted the most” and doesn't wish to be imprisoned again.

While many believed that this prisoner would become an ally to Cal in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it instead looks like he is yet another enemy - as demonstrated by him talking to one of the two bounty hunters about how Cal is a threat to them. However, he can be seen holding some kind of device that he claims can be used against Cal. It remains to be seen what the significance of said device is, but this mysterious new figure could be even more of a challenge than Fallen Order's Inquisitors.

The Imperial Senator Lurks In The Shadows In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

In the five years since Fallen Order, Cal has attracted the attention of an Imperial Senator, who will likely be a major villain in Jedi: Survivor

While there will be plenty of powerful foes on the frontlines in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, one particularly interesting enemy seems to be pulling the strings from behind the scenes. The earlier Jedi: Survivor teaser trailer featured a mysterious Pau'an diplomat sitting in a darkened room on Corusaunt, monologuing about Cal’s next move in the face of being hunted by the Empire. Little else is known about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's new villain, save for a comment by Respawn's Stig Asmussen that reveals that the Senator has made a dangerous deal - which seems to be buying Cal’s reforged lightsaber.

While this mysterious Imperial Senator was completely absent from the latest Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer, he appears to be one of the game’s central villains. More details about who he is and what he wants from Cal will likely be revealed ahead of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s highly anticipated launch next year, but regardless, it looks like the Jedi Knight will have plenty of challenges ahead.
