The Bad Batch continues the story of the elite Clone Force 99 from the last season of The Clone Wars into the Age of the Empire. It also adds to the larger narrative of a galaxy far, far away from providing a new perspective on one of its biggest events: Order 66. In the first episode, fans witness the squad's role in the survival of a key Jedi from the saga.

Star Wars movies, comics, books, and more have shown that there are many Jedi survivors after the shocking betrayal by the Clone Army in Revenge Of The Sith. Some of them are among the most powerful and important Jedi in the galaxy, while others are just people trying to stay alive in a universe that has turned completely against them.

Caleb Dume

The Bad Batch opens with the end of the Jedi in the waning moments of the Clone Wars. It also provides a very different take on a scene from canon Star Wars comics: the escape of Caleb Dume from the clones. Caleb Dume and his master Depa Bilaba are fighting on the planet Kaller against Separatist forces when the Bad Batch comes in to lend a hand. Right as the fighting winds down, Order 66 is given. Dume goes on to be Kanan Jarrus, a major figure in the early Rebellion and one of the lead characters in Star Wars: Rebels.

Cere Junda

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Cere Junda

Cere Junda is a former Jedi from the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Junda was captured by Imperial forces not long after Order 66 and tortured until she divulged the location of her padawan, Trillia, who would eventually become the Second Sister, one of the many Inquisitors in canon. Cere Junda used the Force to escape her captors, and eventually lived an anonymous life far removed from her origins. She would have remained so if not for meeting another Jedi survivor of Order 66, Cal Kestis.

Ferren Barr

Ferren Barr fights Darth Vader in Star Wars comic book

Ferren Barr is one of the Jedi survivors of Order 66 explored in Marvel Comics. He was a padawan at the time of the attack and managed to escape. He is one of the few people in the galaxy who learn who Darth Vader truly is. After hacking into the Imperial defense network, he finds out the truth about Anakin Skywalker and organizes a small army of followers to lead an attack on Vader and the Empire. Unfortunately, his mission ends in failure and with his death at hands of the powerful Sith Lord.

Jocasta Nu

Another Jedi who runs afoul of Darth Vader during his quest to hunt down the survivors is Jocasta Nu. The librarian of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant is first seen in Attack Of The Clones. In the Darth Vader series from Marvel Comics, fans discover that she survived Order 66 and is on the run.

She was in possession of the location of numerous potential Jedi and Force-sensitive children, which made her invaluable to Darth Vader and especially the Emperor. She eventually dies at Vader's hands, but not before proving she was one of the most underrated Jedi in the order.

The Grand Inquisitor

Not much is known about the past of the Grand Inquisitor, the leader of the Force users serving Darth Vader and The Emperor. It is known that he was a Jedi, specifically a Jedi Temple Guard from Coruscant. How he survived Order 66 isn't known, nor is how he became one of the cruelest and violent figures of the Imperial era. The Grand Inquisitor chose to die in a battle with Kanan Jarrus rather than survive the loss and face the wrath of Darth Vader.

Cal Kestis

Cal Kestis wields two lightsabers on Ilum in Jedi Fallen Order

Like Caleb Dume, Cal Kestis was only a child during Order 66. He was only 12 years old at the end of the Clone Wars and spent the next several years of his life in hiding. He escapes the attack of the 13th Battalion thanks to the sacrifice of his master, the Jedi Jaro Tapal. Cal kept his master's broken lightsaber and lived on the run for the next several years until events force him back to the ways of the Jedi that he had abandoned. Cal is still alive in canon and could appear in future Star Wars video game and streaming projects.

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka Tano draws her lightsabers in The Mandalorian.

An Order 66 survivor who will definitely appear in her own streaming series is Ahsoka Tano. While Order 66 isn't likely to be among the storylines that the Ahsoka series explores, it is nonetheless a major episode in the former Jedi's life. Ahsoka barely survived the event, trapped on a Republic cruiser with the 501st after the end of the Seige of Mandalore. She and Captain Rex escape, with both continuing to aid the Rebellion over the next twenty years. Ahsoka continues to walk her own path after the end of the Empire.

Grogu

Grogu steals just about every scene he's in, but as cute and funny as Grogu is, he has a tragic past. Grogu was a Jedi padawan at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at the time of Order 66. Someone - it remains a mystery who - saved him and whisked him away to safety as Anakin Skywalker led a bloody rampage through the sacred temple.

Grogu's life after Order 66 is generally a mystery, as is much about him. It's not clear who his master was, or if he had one at the time of the attack. His survival seems to be the result of the kindness and sacrifice of a mysterious benefactor.

Yoda

Yoda was established as one of the few survivors of the great purge in The Empire Strikes Back. Many years later, fans saw how he anticipated the shocking betrayal of the clones on Kashyyk. Among the wisest and most powerful of the Jedi, Yoda lived for nearly a thousand years, training many apprentices, including Count Dooku. Yoda went into exile on Dagobah after the rise of the Empire, biding his time until the right moment to help bring about the return of the Jedi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi Wan Kenobi with his lightsaber in Revenge Of the Sith

Obi-Wan Kenobi, like Ahsoka Tano, is going to be the subject of a streaming series on Disney+. The series is likely to connect to the Star Wars movies in a lot of ways and may show some of the legendary Jedi Master's life in the immediate aftermath of Order 66. Obi-Wan lived in seclusion on Tattooine for nearly twenty years, watching over Luke Skywalker, who he would eventually train and guide into becoming the first new Jedi in a generation. His sacrifice and efforts helped end the Sith and the Empire.
