A potential leak suggests that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be coming to PlayStation 5 in the very near future. The action-adventure title from Respawn Entertainment released to positive reviews in November 2019. The game puts players in the role of Cal Kestis, a young Jedi who survived the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and must attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order on his own.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released in November 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, publisher Electronic Arts recently confirmed that the game will receive a free current-gen update in order to take full advantage of the power available with the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The upgrade was announced to arrive during the summer, although no exact date was provided. A recent leak, coming from a pair of Brazilian retailers, appeared to reveal that the game's current-gen update would be released on June 26. However, this information was never confirmed nor denied by either EA or Disney.

Now a number of sources, compiled by Reddit user YallaYalla, seem to confirm that the current-gen version of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will actually arrive on June 11. This release date is only days away, much closer than the previously rumored June 26 release. The various listings, all from game retailers throughout Europe and South Africa, are for the PlayStation 5 version of the sci-fi adventure game. However, it can be assumed that the Xbox Series X/S version of the title, as well as the free upgrade for last-gen versions of the game, will also release on the same date.

Update (6/9/2021 10:05 AM EDT): This leak has been further corroborated by Screen Rant sister site TheGamer's latest report. A source indicates the June 11 PS5 release date for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will coincide with its announcement, placing the reveal at or around Summer Game Fest's Kickoff Live event.

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are able to play previous-generation titles through backwards compatibility, meaning that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is technically already playable on these consoles. In January a "next-gen optimization update" was released, allowing the game to run at a steady 60 frames per second and use high resolution. However, additional improvements to the game are still very possible with a true current-gen release. More detailed textures and ray tracing technology are two examples of what Fallen Order could achieve using the full power of the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

EA has confirmed that a current-gen upgrade for Fallen Order is on the way, but the release of this update is now in dispute. June 11 is a very fast-approaching date, making that release a bit hard to believe, but there are also several sources which support the rumor. If a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of the game really is coming in just a few days, Star Wars fans shouldn't need to wait long to hear about it.
