Fans were already counting the days until the release of the new video game, but now the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Dark Temple comic series will be arriving even sooner, and revealing the story begins far sooner than it seemed.
While the game from Respawn Entertainment was shrouded in secrecy to begin with, the story was obvious enough after fans got an extended look at the first official trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Following the adventures of Cal Kestis in the wake of the fall of the Jedi, his allies Cere Junda and Saw Gerrera will be key players along the way. And now one of them will have their story told before players even begin the game.
The series has been announced to be coming from writer Matt Rosenberg and artist Paolo Villanelli, returning to Cere Junda's days as a Jedi Padawan (years before she ever meets Cal Kestis). Fans can check out the official synopsis and Marco Checchetto's cover art below:
Leading into the upcoming third-person action-adventure Star Wars title from Lucasfilm and Respawn Entertainment, Jedi - Fallen Order, this is STAR WARS: JEDI FALLEN ORDER - DARK TEMPLE #1! In the Glory Days of the Republic, the Jedi Council has sent a Jedi Master and his Padawan to a remote planet to oversee the peaceful excavation of a mysterious temple that has been uncovered...but they will come to find that what surrounds the temple may be even more dangerous than the mysteries within it.
Rosenberg reveals to StarWars.com that he's among those long awaiting a video game like Fallen Order, and will hopefully be answering some of the questions players will have regarding the game's cast of Jedi characters:
Working on the Jedi: Fallen Order comic has been a great experience. Respawn and Lucasfilm are not only creating one of the most exciting video games in a long, long time, but they’re also telling a truly epic Star Wars story. So having the chance to introduce audiences to some of the game’s cast, and explore a bit of who they are and how they got where they are is really fun. Cere Junda and Eno Cordova are a pair of Jedi that fans are definitely going to want to know more about, and this comic will tell you part of their story you won’t get anywhere else.
Artist Paolo Villanelli has been dipping into the Star Wars universe lately with his work on the Vader: Dark Visions comic series, but the chance to help expand the story of Fallen Order is a different treat entirely:
What’s more fun than working on a new Star Wars book? Well, the answer is working on a new Star Wars book exploring a completely new part of the franchise. As a video game lover I was super excited to be part of the new Fallen Order game, and as an artist I was thrilled to explore and create a part of it for the comics. Besides our titular heroes Cere and Eno, we’ll get a chance to show new planets, villains, and some good old lightsaber action.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Dark Temple #1 will be available at your local comic book shop this September, with Jedi: Fallen Order coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC two months later, on November 15th, 2019.
