The price of admission for becoming a Star Wars fans just got lower with the sequel trilogy introducing new faces and reintroducing old ones. That's why it's easy to be a Star Wars fan these days (or not?). In any case, most people know what a Jedi is based on the sequel trilogy alone but those films and even the previous movies only touch up surface-level facts about the enigmatic space monk poster-people of the franchise.

Hence, if fans find themselves more curious about the nature of the Jedi and the "Light Side" of the Force, then the Clone Wars series would be a good starting point. It's the era in the Star Wars mythos that bridges the gap between Attack of The Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Needless to say, it's got some details about the Jedi that the movies don't usually acknowledge, like these ones.

Anakin Had An Apprentice

Contrary to what the sequel trilogy implied and instilled in some critics' minds, Rey isn't actually the first "girl Jedi." Before she was even born there was already another female Jedi who was given the spotlight, namely Ahsoka Tano. She became Anakin's apprentice or Padawan, which is practically a Jedi junior.

She was nowhere to be seen in Revenge of the Sith because of some unfortunate circumstances and also didn't appear in the original trilogy because her character was retconned in a sense. Still, she had a big impact on the backstory of the fragmented Jedi Order and was an active but covert participant of the Rebel Alliance.

The Existence Of Outlaw Jedi

Ahsoka is on trial in the Jedi Order in Ahsoka Tano as a child in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The Star Wars films were black and white with their depiction of Jedi and Sith. They certainly didn't show many "in-betweens" and even an exiled Luke Skywalker chose to not be a Jedi anymore. Simply put, the only Jedi that existed in the films' narratives were on the light side.

This wasn't the case in Clone Wars' more open-minded narrative (which is also part of the canon). Ahsoka Tano was kicked out of the Jedi Order but still retained her connection to the Force and even technically operated for and helped the "Light Side." She essentially became a Gray Jedi, exiled Jedi who chose to work outside the confines and restrictions of the Jedi Order.

Jedi Temple Guard Wield Yellow Lightsabers

A lot of fans might think that Rey Palpatine-Skywalker was also the first in the series to wield a yellow and consequently unique lightsaber but it turns out that was a pretty common sight back in Coruscant, specifically within the Jedi Temple. The yellow lightsabers were standard-issue armaments of the Jedi Temple Guard.

These Jedi Temple Guard also represent the highest form of security for the Jedi Order back in the prequel era and the height of the Galactic Republic. They were unfortunately wiped out during Order 66 and only a few survived though they joined the Dark Side.

White Lightsabers Exist

Speaking of special lightsabers, Ahsoka Tano also gets her own in the form of a blindingly white glowing blade. She notably got her new saber aesthetics after getting expelled out of the Jedi Order but continuing to work for the Light Side of the Force.

As such, her white lightsaber also serves as a metaphor for her rather complicated alignment. So far she's the only one in the Star Wars canon to wield white lightsabers which she created by purifying a Sith's red lightsaber crystal. From then on, Ahsoka's white lightsaber has become her trademark in the Star Wars universe and something that made her stand out.

Mace Windu Is Also Proficient In The Force

Of course, Ahsoka isn't the only Jedi to stand out in the canon due to her unique lightsaber. Mace Windu was also notable for having a purple one which signified his straddling the Light and Dark Side of the Force. This made him arguably the best swordsman in the Jedi Order and the Council, he even defeated Sheev Palpatine in a fair lightsaber duel without using any Force power.

That doesn't mean Mace Windu lagged behind when it came to utilizing and weaponizing the Force. Turns out he was also deadly with the Force Crush or a telekinetic violent compression. General Grievous knew this all too well as he received a sample of what Mace Windu was capable of when the latter crushed his ribcage. That's Grievous looked and sounded like a dying asthmatic in Revenge of the Sith.

Lightsabers Can Be Deactivated With Force

Ahsoka Tano

Moving back to Ahsoka Tano, she's no slouch either when it comes to some incredible Force feats. After all, the Jedi's most common trick with the Force is practically telekinesis, so why not just deactivate guns or enemy lightsabers? Ahsoka explored that possibility boastfully in Star Wars Rebels which sequentially serves as an epilogue to the Clone Wars.

During a duel with the Seventh Sister, one of the Sith Inquisitors, Ahsoka showed just how much more experienced she was by deactivating her opponent's lightsaber. The manner in which she did it though, required some form of close contact which sort of defeats the purpose but it still counts.

Not All Jedi Were Clueless About Anakin And Padme During The Clone Wars

Anakin and Padmé enjoy quiet alone time during a short time-off from the war in the Clone Wars

Most fans already sort of knew this since Obi-Wan eventually found out about Anakin and Padme's forbidden romance. However, the films suggested that everyone was clueless about their Chosen One's hidden wife. In the Clone Wars series, this wasn't the case as it was strongly implied that Ahsoka knew all along in the episode "The Wrong Jedi."

Anakin was convincing Ahsoka to stay with the Jedi Order after she got wrongfully exiled based on accusations alone but was later vindicated and reinvited into the faction. Ahsoka's reply to Anakin telling her that he knows how she feels wanting to leave the Order was a suggestive "I Know" which surely meant she's aware of what's going on between him and Padme.

Some Species Are More Receptive To The Force

It's clear that when it comes to Force-sensitive individuals, some aliens or races have a leg up. Yoda was among those aliens, maybe Twi'lek too, or even humans. However, this was confirmed when it was revealed in the show that Ahsoka's race, the Togruta, was indeed Force-sensitive as a whole.

Their race's affinity with the Force has likely strengthened thanks to their montrals or horn-like head adornments. Apart from Ahsoka, the other prominent Togruta in the Jedi Order would be Shaak'Ti whose sensitivity to the Force is also outstanding.

Obi-Wan And Anakin Would Have Died If Not For Ahsoka

As good of a team Obi-Wan and Anakin is, it's actually canon that they wouldn't have made it to the third prequel movie if not for Ahsoka Tano's intervention. Ahsoka saved them many times but the closest call for Obi-Wan and Anakin was during their trip to the planet Vanqor.

This was during the "Dooku Captured" episode. Anakin and Obi-Wan fell into a cavern filled with toxic gas where both of them passed out before they could dig their way out. Ahsoka came quick to the rescue along with some clones and it's safe to say the two Jedi would be absent in Revenge of the Sith if not for her.

Order 66 Could Have Been Prevented

Speaking of preventing tragedies, another disaster of a biblical scale, such as Order 66, also could have been prevented. Fives, a clone trooper, accidentally discovered the inhibitor chips in all the clones and even unearthed Palpatine's plans.

He told Anakin and another clone commander, Rex, though the former dismissed Fives' findings. So as it is, Anakin could have prevented the fall of the Jedi Order, but he didn't. If anything, the Clone Wars further revealed just how flawed the Jedi were even in their heyday.
