While the Star Wars galaxy has featured plenty of unique and powerful Jedi, one hero of the Clone Wars went above and beyond: Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos. Vos was one of the most highly skilled Jedi Knights in the Jedi Order before the rise of the Empire, frequently forced to toe the line between the light and dark sides of the Force. However, his story did not end with Order 66. Instead, in Charles Soule's Darth Vader #7, Marvel Comics revealed that Vos survived the Jedi Purge.

Quinlan Vos wasn't the most prominently featured Jedi in the Skywalker Saga, but he did have a small cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Phantom Menaceseen in the background on the planet of Tatooine, operating undercover. He's also featured in an episode of The Clone Wars, aiding Obi-Wan Kenobi in the apprehension of Zirro the Hutt. Vos carried the unique skill of retrocognition, meaning he could learn the memories of others by touching objects his targets had previously made contact with. As such, he became the Jedi Order's primary agent when it came to tracking, and he excelled at taking down various gangs and organized crime syndicates all over the galaxy.

As he became a Knight, Vos gained the reputation for being a maverick who more often than not bent the rules and code of the Jedi to get results. It was perhaps for this reason that the Jedi Order gave him an incredibly important and morally ambiguous assignment during the height of the Clone Wars: assassinating Count Dooku. In order to get close to the Sith Lord and leader of the Separatist Alliance, Vos had to partner with Dooku's former apprentice Asajj Ventress, who taught him the ways of the dark side in the novel Dark Disciple. As a result, the double agent of the Jedi was unable to succeed in his goals, lest he risk succumbing to the dark side completely, and it was assumed that Vos perished along with the countless other Jedi during the Great Purge of Order 66.

Darth Vader 7 Jedi list

In Darth Vader #7, the Grand Inquisitor shows Darth Vader a list of Jedi the Empire believe survived. The list of names is in Aurebesh; a known alphabet that fans are generally able to translate, and the third name from the top of the list is Quinlan Vos. This is huge for fans, and is confirmed when another Jedi that Vader and the Inquistors are hunting in a later issue references Vos' survival.

As of right now, the current Star Wars and Darth Vader comics are set after the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and Luke Skywalker has determined to continue his Jedi Path, regardless of his father being revealed to be Vader. While he just got a new lightsaber in the latest issue of Star Wars, Luke still has a ways to go before he becomes a full-fledged Jedi Knight. Who better to teach Luke further than Quinlan Vos, who has perhaps been living under the Empire's radar since the fall of the Republic and the Jedi Order? Who knows: Quinlan Vos could come back in The Bad Batch animated series, or even get his own project in the Star Wars universe? There's plenty of possibilities now that fans know his story didn't end with Order 66.
