Although the Jedi and Sith are the most well-known Force wielders in the Star Wars galaxy, terrifying monsters are capable of using the Force as well. The Star Wars galaxy is home to species and creatures of all shapes and sizes. However, some exist purely for the sake of being dangerous galactic horrors, having the desire to terrorize their targets using some genuinely frightening methods through the Force.

The concept of Force-sensitive monsters in the Star Wars galaxy is quite fascinating. While some are very much based within the dark side, others use the Force via defense mechanisms that have evolved over time. Regardless, here are 10 Star Wars monsters and creatures who can use the Force.

10 Starweirds

A Starweird from Star Wars Legends.

One of the most terrifying monsters in Star Wars is the starweird. Living only in deep space with no ecological purpose, starweirds attack pilots fixing their starships and can even prey on ships as they move through hyperspace. Looking like tall, gaunt humans with pale white hair, starweirds attack as soon as they're seen, unleashing a telepathic scream through that Force that can be heard even in the vacuum of space. While some believe that they could be creations of the Sith, their origins are a mystery. However, Star Wars comics have confirmed that Jedi Knight Ayala Secura and Shaaki Ti captured one during the Clone Wars.

9 Nameless

Star Wars Marta Ro and Nameless

Existing as a major threat during the High Republic era, the Nameless were creatures who preyed on Force-sensitives. If a Jedi was close enough to one of the Nameless, they would soon experience hallucinations, a loss of connection to the Force, and at times even death. As such, the Nameless became a major weapon used by the marauders known as the Nihil and their leader Marchion Ro who could control the monsters.

8 Vornskrs

A canine and typically nocturnal predator, vornskrs are native to the planet Myrkr. Much like wolves, vornskrs traveled in packs and were quite stealthy. However, the true danger was their connection to the Force. Not only could they detect the Force in others, but their heightened senses made them incredibly hard to sneak up on. Because they often hunt in packs, vornskrs rarely fought alone, having strength in numbers. Their power in the Force was developed to help them hunt their primary prey ysalamiri, but it also means that Jedi are also viewed as prey to be viciously attacked too.

7 Space Wraiths

Having no known form with some believing them to be a force rather than a species, space wraiths are some of the most dangerous monsters in the Star Wars galaxy. Much like starweirds, space wraiths exist in deep space with possible connections to the dark side. Preying upon the space lanes, space wraiths will possess and corrupt sentient beings, possibly feeding upon them while making them act as if they have evil intentions. For Force-sensitives, a space wraith possession guarantees that a victim will start using the dark side, effectively turning them into a serial killer attempting to murder anything and anyone nearby.

6 Voxyn

The voxyn is a much darker evolution of the vornskr in Star Wars' non-canonical Legends. A genetic hybrid of the vornskr and the Yuuzhan Vong's own creature known as a fero xyn, voxyn were cloned and bred from the only hybrid that was a success. Having poison in their tails, voxyn also possesses the ability to spit acid from their mouths, an ear-shattering screech, bacteria in their claws that bring disease with every scratch, and toxic blood. Naturally, they can also detect Force-sensitives like the vornskr, making the artificial monsters even more dangerous to the Jedi.

5 Jakobeasts

Jakobeast in Star Wars

Found on several worlds, jakobeasts typically live on colder planets throughout the Outer Rim. Incredibly strong with horns and tusks, a herd of jakobeasts could use the Force as means of defending themselves. Gathering in a circle, jakobeasts could collectively generate a massive Force push that could decimate entire forests, an over-the-top and devastating defense that obviously motivated predators such as wampas to keep their distance (or at least employ stealthier hunting tactics).

4 Ysalamiri

Ysalamiri in Star Wars Legends.

Despite being the prey of the vornskr, ysalamiri were formidable and dangerous in their own right. A lizard-like species, ysalamiri developed the ability to neutralize the Force in response to the Force-detecting vornskrs. The more ysalamiri were together, the bigger the generated bubble of Force-negating energy would be. As such, the true terror of the ysalamiri was how they were used by those seeking to fight and kill Jedi. Grand Admiral Thrawn employed several ysalamiri in his campaign to reclaim the galaxy in Star Wars Legends, his canon appearances have included statues of ysalamiri in his office (a possible tease for the future).

3 Tuk'ata

Tuk'ata in Star Wars

Tuk'ata are better known as "Sith Hounds", employed by the Sith Empire to guard their temples and tombs on their world of Moraband. While some believe that the Force-sensitive tuk'ata fed on the Force itself, they have extremely long lifespans nonetheless. Having the ability to become incredibly large, tuk'ata have claws and poison stingers they can use with incredible speed. They can also communicate with each other, possibly through the Force as well.

2 Hssiss (Dark Side Dragons)

Hssis Sith Dragon in Star Wars

Hssiss were also known as "Dark Side Dragons" due to their powers in the Force. Through the Force, hssiss could make themselves invisible to Force-sensitives and were also drawn to conflict in the Force, especially the dark side. Effectively large reptiles that could be ridden by the Sith as seen in The Old Republic, the "dark side dragons" also possess a poison bite and often long spikes on their tails.

1 Taozin

Taozin are effectively giant Force-sensitive worms. In the Star Wars canon, only a few have been seen kept in jars during their grub stage (including Oga's Cantina at Galaxy's Edge). However, Legends saw the creatures in their true final form as giant suspended worms that were believed to have gone extinct. However, one was found in the depths of Coruscant that nearly killed Darth Maul due to its power in the Force. Completely resistant to lightsabers due to their thick slimy hide, a Taozin could also influence the Force to make it appear invisible to other Force-users (until it was too late). However, Maul was able to destroy the bridge it was on, sending the Star Wars monster to its death.
