Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star War: The High Republic Adventures #1 from Daniel José Older and Harvey Tolibao

IDW Publishing has just released a brand new Star Wars comic series set during the days of the High Republic era, 200 years before the events of the Skywalker saga. In it, the Padawans under the tutelage of Jedi Master Yoda are traveling the stars to receive hands-on learning from their powerful and wise teacher. However, the events of the Great Disaster require them to step up in some big ways, offering aid where they can to a galaxy in turmoil. Furthermore, it's possible that this new series may have just teased the existence of a new dyad within the Force, predating the one seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

In the final film of the Skywalker saga, Kylo Ren of the First Order and Rey of the Resistance were revealed to be a dyad, connected to one other as one being in the Force. Kylo revealed this to Rey in The Rise of Skywalker while also revealing her true bloodline as Palpatine's granddaughter. Rey would eventually meet Darth Sidious in battle, surrounded by the Sith Eternal cultists, and a recently redeemed Ben Solo was not far behind. It was only when they were standing unified in front of him that it became clear to Palpatine that that they were indeed a dyad, "unseen for generations."

While Ben and Rey were extremely powerful together, they also provided the means for Sidious to revive his decaying body and be reborn. However, Rey and Ben still managed to defeat Sidious, though it did result in Ben's death after he gave his own life to save Rey's. Regardless, the Force connection of a dyad is an extremely rare occurrence, and something that the Sith themselves had hoped to cultivate with their Rule of Two: one master, and one apprentice. However, it looks as though a new dyad from the days of the High Republic is being teased, as is seen in the first issue of this new series from Daniel José Older and Harvey Tolibao.

The possibility of a new dyad existing in the High Republic is potentially seen in that of Padawan Lula Talisola, a student of Master Yoda, and Zeen Mrala, a child living on Trymant IV, who has been raised to fear the Force and those who use it (despite secretly being Force sensitive herself). With the Trymant system in danger from the Great Disaster, the Padawans are sent to the planet to offer aid, and this is the first time Zeen has even seen Force wielders just like her. Additionally, one page in particular melds the internal narration and monologues of both Lula and Zeen, and they end up working together as one, Lula deflecting the blaster bolts being fired by the Nihil while Zeen unleashes her power in the Force to keep a hunk of falling debris from hyperspace from destroying them all. As such, the possible implication exists that the pair could be a Force dyad.

Additionally, the duality between Lula and Zeen would make sense for them to be a dyad. While Lula has been taught to trust in the Force, Zeen was raised to fear it. Despite now knowing each before this issue, there seems to be a very strong connection between the two of them, and it's possible that Zeen will be taken in by Master Yoda to learn the ways of the Jedi in future issues, which would then allow for her relationship with Lula to expand. While Darth Sidious said that a Force dyad hadn't been seen in generations, the events of the High Republic are taking place nearly 300 years before the The Rise of Skywalker, so it's certainly possible for a dyad to have come onto the scene in this golden age of the Jedi Order. In any case, readers of this new Star Wars series will no doubt learn more as it continues with future issues.
