The year 1977 was such a long time ago that it almost does seem like a whole different galaxy far far away. Even though the first Star Wars came out over forty years ago, the franchise is still going strong.

In fact, Star Wars has never really slowed down since George Lucas released the first movie.

There were only a few years in between the films of the original trilogy. After the original trilogy concluded, fans could still enjoy the TV shows Droids and Ewoks which both ended in 1986.

Thirteen years is really the longest fans have had to wait for Star Wars content, which occurred in between these animated series and The Phantom Menace. After the long gap, fans were treated to a prequel trilogy, a handful of TV shows, spinoff movies, and now the ongoing sequel trilogy.

Even with the sequel trilogy coming to a close next year with Episode IX, Disney has no plans of putting the series back on the shelf.

They already have plans with Rian Johnson to make a whole new trilogy as well as plans with the Game of Thrones producer-writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for yet another trilogy.

With the mass amount of trilogy movies, potential spinoff films, and TV shows, Star Wars doesn’t seem like it’s going away anytime soon.

Because of Star Wars’ popularity, there is a huge amount of fan art that depicts characters in a way we otherwise would never see them. Some have even used their artistic skills to show Jedi succumbing to the dark side.

Here are 20 Star Wars Heroes Reimagined As Sith!

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the most popular and important characters in the first Star Wars movies. He’s responsible for saving Luke’s life from the Sand People and introducing him to the ways of the Force.

Obi-Wan has only gotten more popular with the prequel films and Ewan McGregor’s portrayal of the character.

In fact, Obi-Wan was one of the few good things to come out of the prequel trilogy, but that is beside the point.

All that matters is that things could have been a lot different if Obi-Wan would have let Luke perish at the hands of the Sand People.

Things could have been even more different if Obi-Wan was a Sith versus a Jedi and this concept art from the canceled Battlefront IV depicts just that.

Yoda

There are many iconic Star Wars characters, but none are quite like Master Yoda.  Star Wars is known for having complex creatures that are not human and Yoda fits into that category.

Yoda is a two-foot green humanoid whose true species is actually still unknown. Even though Yoda is only two feet tall, he grew to become one of the most powerful members of the Jedi Order.

Yoda was so knowledgeable in the ways of the Force that he was able to effectively defend himself in battle and train several young Jedi.

While Yoda is known for being one of the wisest Jedi, some have imagined him as a Sith master. This image of Darth Yoda by Daryl Mandryk depicts an evil Yoda that is battle scarred with red eyes.

This version of Yoda is truly terrifying.

C-3PO

When one thinks of someone going to the dark side, they tend to imagine a Jedi. While certain Jedi often to fall to the dark side, most notoriously Anakin Skywalker, other beings can certainly become involved with the Sith.

This artwork by christianamiel21  depicts C-3PO getting “an upgrade” but his upgrade really makes him look malicious.

The protocol droid is known for having a slim gold-plated exterior with a small rectangle for a mouth.

C-3PO has always been a skinny character matching actor Anthony Daniel’s physique, but this artwork shows C-3PO with an actual body busting out of the tight plating with a smiling set of teeth.

The robot may not be labeled as a Sith in this illustration, but his look could certainly pull off the title.

Rey

Rey is one of the new heroes in the sequel trilogy. From her first appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey seemed to be incredibly in touch with the Force even though she had never used the power before.

While Rey was no doubt powerful with the Force and portrayed as a hero in The Force Awakens, the conclusion of the film led many to believe that she could possibly turn to the dark side.

This fan art for Episode VIII by punmagneto depicts Rey as a Sith with her staff turning into a double-sided lightsaber much like Darth Maul’s.

Rey seems to be the Jedi hero of the sequel trilogy especially since she resisted the temptation of the dark side in The Last Jedi but nobody knows what J.J. Abrams could pull in Episode IX

Luke Skywalker

Saying that fans were disappointed with Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a bit of an understatement. Fans were so furious with Rian Johnson’s finished product that fans petitioned to have the film pulled from the canon universe.

One main complaint people had with Episode VIII was the character development of Luke Skywalker. Luke played a pivotal role in The Last Jedi since his character had such an important role in the original trilogy.

Based on the trailers and other marketing materials, many believed Luke was finally going to turn to the dark side.

Thankfully this didn’t happen but that didn’t stop artists like Boss Logic from creating stunning portraits of Luke as a Sith.

Poe, Rey, And Finn

Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega were the three actors chosen to lead the sequel trilogy. Their characters Poe, Rey, and Finn respectively are currently all fighting for the Resistance.

Kylo Ren, on the other hand, is fighting for the First Order alongside General Hux and Captain Phasma in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

While the two sides seem to be fairly balanced at this time, it would have been interesting if Kylo Ren would have continued to train with Luke as a Jedi.

On the other side of the coin, seeing Poe, Rey, and Finn as First Order fighters would have been equally as interesting.

This artwork from vforvogus shows a reversed reality where the trio is the leaders of the First Order. Even BB-8 has joined the dark side.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Fans were massively disappointed with The Phantom Menace especially since they had to wait sixteen years for a new Star Wars movie.

That being said, Episode I did give fans some incredible characters like Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn.

Even though Qui-Gon was outmatched by Darth Maul, he was still a powerful member of the Jedi Council. Qui-Gon not only mastered the skill of becoming a Force ghost but he also trained the talented Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Even though he trained a wise Jedi, Qui-Gon was taught by Count Dooku who succumbed to the dark side.

Given that Qui-Gon was trained by Dooku, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine him as a Sith much like wynahiros did with this artwork.

Jar Jar Binks

While Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul were some of the fan favorite characters in The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks was one of the most despised.

Jar Jar is often hated on because of how annoying and silly he comes off as. While most people cringe at the thought of Jar Jar Binks, other people theorized that he was more than just an idiot.

Fan theories speculate that Jar Jar Binks was actually a Sith himself and helped bring down the Jedi Order by purposely giving Darth Sidious control of the Galactic Republic.

It seems plausible enough and led to many fan artworks.

This unknown artist simply took an image from Knights of the Old Republic and photoshopped Jar Jar’s face onto the body but the end result is still excellent.

Padmé

Padmé Amidala was important to the Galactic Republic since she was the Queen of Naboo. She was also very important to Anakin Skywalker since he fell madly in love with her.

Anakin feared Padmé would perish during childbirth and even turned to the dark side to figure out a way to save her life.

When Padmé visited Anakin on Mustafar, Anakin informed her that with his new powers he could not only save her, but they could do anything they wanted by ruling the galaxy.

Padmé’s heart was broken by learning the truth of what Anakin had done, but what if she would have agreed to his wishes?

Padmé would have no doubt learned the ways of the Force and been a strong ruler.

Inspired by Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Ghosthornet gave Padmé a makeover as a Sith.

Kit Fisto

Kit Fisto was one of the many Jedi Masters who fought during the Clone Wars. He was also one of the four Jedi who came to arrest Senator Palpatine in Revenge of the Sith.

Kit Fisto lasted longer than Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin but even Fisto was no match for the Emperor.

Many will recognize him from his green skin, his long head tentacles, as well as his green lightsaber. Fisto is often recognized by these descriptions but artist richmbailey created a Sith version of Kit Fisto that depicts him in another light.

Instead of his usual shade of green, Fisto now has an entirely red color with black markings on his head tentacles.

Like most Sith, Fisto is dressed in black robes and wields a red saber. This combined with his dark eyes and sharp nails make for some great nightmare fuel.

Plo Koon

Plo Koon may not have had a huge role in the films but he was a main character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Plo Koon is known for having a big heart and caring about every species and organism he comes in contact with.

He was also responsible for bringing Ahsoka Tano into the Jedi Order.

Even though Koon was a skilled pilot, his starfighter was destroyed when Palpatine executed Order 66 and his troops turned on him.

It is hard to imagine Plo Koon turning to the dark side especially after seeing him in The Clone Wars but even Koon has been imagined as a Sith thanks to an unknown artist.

Koon can be seen in the image above wearing a black Sith hood as well as wielding a white lightsaber.

Porg

Depending on where you stand with The Last Jedi, you probably either love or hate Porgs. On the same level as Ewoks, the Porgs brought a comedic element to their Star Wars film and were adorable.

What’s not adorable, however, is seeing a Porg with a black cloak and a red lightsaber. Even if Porgs seemed like an easy target for higher animals on the food chain, a Porg with a lightsaber is a dangerous combination.

Whether it would be able to actually harm someone of just cut itself in half is a serious question but imagining a Sith Porg is quite humorous.

Even if you did not care for The Last Jedi, there is no doubt that this artwork by CardboardKnife is a masterpiece.

Mace Windu

Like most of Samuel L. Jackson’s roles, Mace Windu from the prequel trilogy was a boss. He wielded a purple lightsaber and was constantly hesitant to trust Anakin Skywalker.

Windu was the only one capable of overpowering Palpatine at the time of his arrest but Anakin ultimately stopped Windu from finishing the Sith Lord off.

Mace Windu met a tragic end when Anakin cut off his hand and Palpatine used force lightning to throw him from a building.

Windu was very devoted to the Jedi Council, but this concept art from the canceled Battlefront IV depicts a Sith version of Mace Windu.

While the artist is unknown, Battlefront IV would have been set in an alternate reality where the popular Jedi characters were Sith and vice versa. Sadly, the third and fourth Battlefront games were never released.

Ahsoka Tano

While it wasn’t depicted in the prequel trilogy, Anakin Skywalker did indeed have an apprentice before his fall to the dark side. His apprentice's was named Ahsoka Tano who was apart of the Togruta species.

She may not have appeared in the main series of films however she played an important role in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and TV series as well as Star Wars: Rebels.

Ahsoka was once framed for crimes against the Jedi Council and was banned from the Order.

Even though her name was eventually cleared, she refused to rejoin the Jedi. While this could have led her to the dark side like artist Harben-Pictures imagines, it ultimately did not as she still fought against the Empire.

Shaak Ti

Not to be confused with Ahsoka Tano from the animated Star Wars media, Shaak Ti was a character from the prequel trilogy. The two characters look very similar since they are both of the Togruta species.

While Ahsoka is currently still alive in the Star Wars canon, the same can not be said about Shaak Ti.

Shaak Ti only appeared in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith before her life was ended by Anakin Skywalker in a deleted scene for Episode III.

Like many characters on this list, Shaak Ti probably would never have fallen to the dark side, but artists such as aiRaLD22 are still able to effectively turn them into Sith characters.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Even though Obi-Wan Kenobi is on this list twice, a version of Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan is worth including.

Things could have been incredibly different in the original trilogy if old Ben Kenobi had turned into a Sith, but things could have been even worse for the galaxy if he would have turned during the Clone Wars.

This artwork by SmacksArt depicts an animated and younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a Sith.

Obi-Wan was incredibly powerful as a Jedi so one can only imagine how powerful he could have become if he would have mastered both the Light and the dark side of the Force.

It’s a safe bet that an evil Obi-Wan and Anakin ruling the Galaxy together would have ended in chaos.

Princess Leia

While Luke Skywalker grew up bulls-eying womb rats in his T-16, Leia Skywalker grew up as an Organa and lived in royalty. She became the princess of Alderaan and was extremely devoted to seeing the downfall of the Galactic Empire.

Her adoptive father Senator Bail Organa was apart of the Republic Senate before its downfall and sought out justice.

Having him as a father made Leia into what she is today, but what if she would have followed the footsteps of her real father?

Phil Noto is a successful comic book artist, but he also made this artwork imagining Princess Leia as a Sith.

Not only does she wield her father’s lightsaber, but she is also wearing his suit.

Rey

Yes, Rey has been mentioned before but with all the speculation about her being a Sith in Episode VIII, there are a ton of awesome artworks featuring her as a Sith.

There is no question that Rey is a powerful Jedi. Not only did she have Luke Skywalker as a teacher, but she was able to overpower Luke and best Kylo Ren in battle.

Her skill set has undeniably increased over the past two films but she could become even more powerful if she became a Sith like Withoutafuss illustrated.

Given the slash on Rey’s face, it appears as if this artwork imagines Rey and Kylo Ren swapping places with Rey being the leader of the First Order.

Wookie

Thanks to Chewbacca, the Wookies have played a main role in the Star Wars films since the beginning. The prequel trilogy elaborated on the Wookies’ home-world by having major battles take place on Kashyyyk in Revenge of the Sith.

The Wookies have always allied themselves with the Republic and have always been against the Empire.

Because of this, there has never been a Sith Wookie in the Star Wars universe.

This artwork by Alex LaShomb shows an unnamed Wookie wielding two red lightsabers while expelling Force lightning from his body.

If a Wookie is willing to rip someone’s arm off over a game of Dejarik, who knows what they could do with the power of the dark side.

BB-8

For some people, R2-D2 and C-3PO will always be their favorite droids, but The Force Awakens gave fans another lovable droid named BB-8.

Even though The Last Jedi gave us a flat-topped First Order Astromech droid, it’s hard to imagine everyone’s favorite rolling droid as a villain, let alone a Sith Lord.

Artist xplank11 turned BB-8 into a Sith but let’s be real, he’s still adorable. It was a hilarious moment when BB-8 gave Finn a thumbs up in The Force Awakens but this artist imagines BB-8 pulling out Kylo Ren’s lightsaber instead of a little lighter.

While BB-8 is programmed to serve the Resistance, if anything were to happen to Poe, you can bet this little droid would seek vengeance by any means necessary.
