Warning: Spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett season 1!

Grogu notably chose Din Djarin and the Mandalorians over the Jedi in The Book of Boba Fett, but there are various ways he could still acquire a lightsaber of his own. The Book of Boba Fett season 1's penultimate episode saw Luke Skywalker present Grogu with an ultimatum: stay with Luke to train in the ways of a Force to become a Jedi or return to Din and remain as a Mandalorian foundling. Grogu chose the latter, meaning he gave up his chance at getting his own lightsaber.

After picking Din's gift of beskar chainmail armor, Grogu left the other option of Yoda's lightsaber in the hands of Luke. With the help of R2-D2 and Luke's X-Wing, the young Force-sensitive being was brought to Tatooine to reunite with his newfound father-figure, Din. Arriving at the hangar, Peli Motto delivered Grogu to Mos Espa, the site of a battle between Boba Fett's forces and the Pykes. Though Din tried to keep Grogu out of the raging battle, the little guy couldn't help but thrust himself into the fight, showcasing the strength of his Force powers taught by Luke. With Boba's side victorious, Din was able to leave the planet with Grogu, destined for yet another adventure together.

Grogu's reunion with Din Djarin was inevitable, but it happened much sooner than expected. Many expected Grogu's return to occur in The Mandalorian season 3, but the opportunity arose when Luke gave "the Child" a chance to return Din. That said, just because Grogu picked the beskar armor, Grogu could still get a lightsaber in the future, specifically, the Darksaber. Din still possesses the ancient weapon by the end of The Book of Boba Fett. Unless he loses it in future combat, the weapon could theoretically be passed down to Grogu. The rules of the Darksaber have been rocky in Star Wars canon, but with Grogu's connection to Clan Vizsla and Din's Mandalorian connection, there's a chance Grogu could be the heir to the Darksaber. That said, there are other ways Grogu could become the next Mandalorian Jedi while wielding his own lightsaber.

Just because Grogu decided to end his training with Luke, it doesn't mean he will stop using the Force. The small creature experimented with his powers in The Book of Boba Fett season 1 finale when facing the scorpion-like Scorpenek droids and the rancor. The Mandalorian season 3 will likely feature Grogu learning more about his powers while with Din. It's also possible the pair will have another run-in with Luke, who may have changed his mind regarding the fate of Yoda's lightsaber. A situation might arise that could necessitate Grogu's acquisition of the small saber, allowing the character to become the new owner.

With all of that said, there's also still a chance Grogu could get his own lightsaber well into the future. With a lifespan lasting centuries, Grogu is still relatively young, meaning there's plenty of time for him to have another chance at Jedi training. When Din is long gone, Grogu may reconsider his link to the Force by seeking another teacher. In doing so, he could potentially have a chance at building his own custom lightsaber. Many have theorized any lightsaber Grogu constructs would incorporate the round metal knob from Din's Razor Crest. The small chrome ball is clearly still important to Grogu, as seen in The Book of Boba Fett since it represents his bond with Din. Either way, Grogu's reunion with Din hasn't completely ruined the character's chance at getting his own lightsaber in the future.
