A new Star Wars comic book miniseries, Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Battle Tales - is coming out soon and it will take a deeper look at some iconic characters and stories set in the Clone Wars era. One of those stories will focus on General Grievous, one of the coolest looking characters in the entire Star Wars canon, and could flesh out the character more.

General Grievous first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before making his film debut in the Star Wars prequel Revenge of the Sith.  Grievous was the Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Army and was a driving factor in the Clone Wars. The Kaleesh-born cyborg played a sizable role in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show and had his backstory explored in the now non-canon expanded universe. Grievous is able to wield four lightsabers at the same time and just on his look alone has become one of the more popular villains in the Star Wars universe. In the live-action film, Grievous (somewhat shockingly) meets his demise after taking a series of blaster shots by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Earlier this year, it was announced a new Clone Wars era comic would be coming out from IDW Publishing titled Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars - Battle Tales. The five-issue miniseries written by Michael Moreci (The Plot) with a group of rotating artists will explore new tales from the Clone Wars period. The series will center around clone troopers, Commander Cody and Captain Rex, telling their war stories and then for those tales to be the focus of each issue. Two different stories have been revealed for the comic as issue number three of Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars - Battle Tales will feature Padme, while issue five will feature General Grievous.

Star-Wars-General-Grievous

There haven't been many details revealed about the younger reader series, other than it will come out weekly and that it will take place in the same universe as the extremely popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. It is really great to see Grievous back in the spotlight, as the character's backstory and battles during the Clone Wars are ripe to be explored further in comic book form - plus seeing him wield multiple lightsabers again in battle is incredibly exciting. Hopefully, more key details are dropped about the character's path and builds on what the animated series has already established. He's too cool of a character not to get a deeper look at. Star Wars Adventures: Clone Wars hits comic shops in April.
