A new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge video highlights opening day merchandise. As the Star Wars franchise continues to expand and grow, arguably one of the biggest upcoming events is the grand opening of Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction. Officially in the works since 2015, the new park will open on May 31.

The timeline for Disney’s latest big budget attraction is set somewhere between the events of The Last Jedi and the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. So far, everything that's been shown of Galaxy’s Edge appears to be a Star Wars fan’s dream come true, complete with an interactive environment and the opportunity to come face to face with Star Wars staples both old and new. While the first Galaxy’s Edge park will open in just under two weeks (as of this writing), Disney’s second Star Wars attraction will close out the summer, opening at Florida’s Disney World on August 29. And while we know that a variety of exciting opportunities will meet guests of Galaxy’s Edge (like the ability to custom build their own lightsaber), Star Wars fans are understandably eager to discover all that will be available to them.

As it happens, Disney Parks have now taken to Twitter to reveal some of the merchandise that will be sold at Galaxy’s Edge. While a portion of the unique collectables and souvenirs available can currently only be purchased inside the Galaxy’s Edge attraction, Disney will be placing some of these items in the Star Wars Launch Bay at Disneyland's Tomorrowland attraction. These will be available to the general public, regardless of whether or not a Galaxy’s Edge reservation has been made. In addition to this, there will also be special Galaxy’s Edge opening day merchandise throughout Disneyland. Check out the video below to see some of the available merchandise, as well as the photo of Galaxy’s Edge staff at the park.

Unfortunately, the above video does not give a complete rundown of all the items up for grabs at Galaxy’s Edge, but Star Wars fans with a keen enough eye will have no problem spotting more than a few gems. A Salacious Crumb puppet can be seen on the presenter’s shoulder, which is sure to be a hit with many. Also visible are plush toy versions of Tautauns, Wampas, Porgs and Banthas as well as not so plush versions of Rathtars, Worrt frogs and Pufferpigs. There doesn’t appear to be any shortage of less obscure characters in the form of action figures, statues and even handcrafted felt dolls of Chewbacca, Yoda, Rey, Kylo Renn and Darth Vader, just to name a few. And though the amount of merchandise visible in the video is small, it sounds as though there's so much more available than what can be highlighted in a single two and a half minute video.

There’s no doubt that the arrival of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is going to be a rousing success. However, the real challenge for Disney will come after the initial hype surrounding the attractions wears off. With the amount of money that Disney has spent acquiring and developing Star Wars, the Mouse House is going to need to see serious returns for a very long time. It’s not hard to believe that this will happen, but with the tremendous degree of Star Wars material that’s on its way in the coming years, Disney is banking on zero chance of Star Wars burnout among audiences. Hopefully, that won’t be an issue, but nothing is ever guaranteed - especially not in Hollywood’s unpredictable and challenging landscape.
