A new galactic map shows the many planets of the Star Wars universe. As one of the most expansive media franchises of all time, Star Wars' world building has always been impressive. Serious fans can easily name many of the planets and their places within the galaxy. As more movies, TV shows, games, and other pieces of media become part of Star Wars' world, fans have been able to expand their knowledge of the galaxy. With each new release, fans look for any mention of new planets or unexplored areas within the universe.

As this point, fans already know quite a bit about the Star Wars galaxy, though some mysteries still remain. The area has ten regions, beginning with the Deep Core and ending with the Outer Rim, where Batuu and other planets are located. There are also hundreds of sectors within the regions of the galaxy, further complicating things. All surround a giant black hole, shown at the center of the many planets and regions. Though the Star Wars universe is incredibly vast, hyperspace routes help the heroes and villains get around the galaxy with increased ease.

The new map comes from the upcoming book Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu, created in conjunction with Disney Parks. Galaxy's Edge is located at both Disneyland and Disney World and offers visitors an immersive Star Wars experience. It all takes place on Batuu, a planet fans hadn't seen before the creation of Galaxy's Edge. In the map, shared by Twitter user The Planetary Pilot, Batuu is shown most prominently. Check out the full galactic map below:

As the caption next to the map explains, Batuu used to be a planet visited often, thanks to its prime location. However, once hyperspace routes were introduced into the galaxy, the planet fell into disarray. Though maps like this one have been released in the past, it's always interesting to see the many planets and their places within the galaxy laid out so clearly. The map should also make fans more excited to check out Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu when it releases on June 23. The guide includes new material from Lucasfilm, and these kind of companion works often reveal interesting details about the Star Wars world. For example, the novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed many new, oftentimes very important, pieces of information that didn't make it into the film.

As the most updated look at the galaxy, fans should enjoy dissecting the map and using it to make sense of Star Wars' ever-expanding world. Though the film side of the franchise is on something of a release hiatus right now, Disney+ series like The Mandalorian are still introducing new planets to the galaxy. Hopefully, Star Wars continues to release maps like this one helping fans keep track of the increasingly complex universe.
